I really like watching this guy. He combines defence and offence very nicely. The only problem I see with him is that he gasses in the middle rounds, but his footwork makes up for it (as well as little body punching, but his style is not based on that). My question is if he beats Paul Williams in a convincing way (realistically by points) where does he rank P4P. Pacquiao and Mayweather are number 1 and 2 but there is no obvious number 3. With a win over Williams does he deserve that spot? A bs draw against Cintron, desperatly close loss to Williams, Wins over Pavlik and Williams. Add this to him being a two weight champ and only losing a long time ago I would make him P4P personally. Its all subjective but I was wondering what other people believe. Its no stretch to imagine him beating Williams convincingly after all.
I dont think he gasses in the middle rounds, he seems to take it easy so he can come on strong later on. I'd prbably have him between 4 and 6 if he beats Williams, if he isnt there already.
I'm not so sure he is 35. I know its a young 35 as you can get but he has a hell of a lot of movement and even a young boxer would get tired. Like I said I would be worried about that except for his great footwork which in my opinion is his greatest asset. As much as I'm looking forward to a rematch I would love to see him take on Angulo or Cotto. I would give them a better chance than a lot of people would.
Floyd should fight him. Its a very winnable fight for Floyd, the style match up favors floyd. More times than not a more conventional boxer/counter puncher schools the slickster, Barrera/Hamed, Khan/Paulie, Zab/spinks ect. Martinez fights with his hands low which floyd will find easy to counter, he is wide open and used to having a speed advantage and getting away with it so he wont know what to do with floyd. Martinez isnt that big and doesnt have a big punch, floyd wont have to put on much weight at all. Plus he can probably convince martinez to take a 40/60 split. It would be a brilliant move to shut up his critics.

Martinez hasnt been fighting long enough to fight floyd with his hands low. The man to beat Floyd has been Boxing all of his Life and is bigger Martinez is only 1 up. Maybe Floyd would take it but if I dont like the Idea of Shane who is bigger than floyd to fight at 154 I definitly wouldnt want Floyd going there who started his career at super feather weight.
