Because even when he fought at 160 he was small for the weight class.

He spent a few years in jail from 2002 to 2005 and from what I remember he's actually suppose to be going back to jail for a year or two very soon.

It could be that the folks at top rank think they are setting Kelly up with another Zertuche type fight. That was KP's first appearance on HBO, and his primary goal in that fight was to put on a good show. It was in fact very entertaining while it lasted. The problem is that Edouard isn't as good, as tough, as dangerous, or as strong as 2007 Zertuche, not even close.

Yeah but does Pavlik really need to make another good first impression?? Everyone knows him and the best thing for him is to put him in with other good fighters just fighters that feed perfectly into his style. Putting him in with Edouard does nothing but waste his and our time they arent gonna fool anyone even if he Knocks Edouard out in 30 seconds and looks like a prime RJJ doing it.

Shouldve at least put him in with Manfredo or a Manfredo type fighter. He's still a world class fighter just cause Martinez beat him doesnt make him useless and in need of a tomato can that he can knock out with the first punch.

Agree with your entire post, except I would have preferred Davd Lopez to Manfredo.

I would have loved to see him fight Lopez. Lopez is def a few levels above Manfredo and would def be there to win plus it works out perfect for Kelly because Lopez will be in front of him the whole fight.

I was just saying at worst Manfredo or Manfredo level fighter.

David Lopez threw some nice combinations off the back foot and actually worked in some lateral movement when he fought Ossie Duran. The dude is getting better all the time. He hasn't lost since he lost a 12 round war with peak Zuniga in 2005. Zuniga stopped Lopez in the 12th, but "Z" was actually the first man to hit the canvass.

The whole issue with David Lopez pisses me off. If a handsome young American prospect put together the string of wins David has, people would be screaming for a title shot, but Lopez just gets ignored.

    Its a rebound/confidence fight.

Atleast it isnt the main event.

I like the Haitian Sensation. And Pavlik needs a tune up bigtime.

I'll be hoping for an upset. Maybe Pavlik is at that point in his career where it can happen.

I don't think too much of this either way. It just is what it is. It's the nature of the business. Look at Sam Peter's activity after Vitali and Chambers. It makes this fight look like a gigantic challenge.

If he actually gets upset by Edouard there is something seriously wrong with Kelly. Just plain wrong.
