Did he beat an ATG? Did he beat Ali? Did he beat a Prime Lewis? Did he beat a prime Tyson? Did he beat a prime Holyfield? Nope. He beat Samuel Peter. :rofl:rofl:rofl So calm down, nuthuggers. Furthermore, it took big Klitschko wayyyy longer to get a shopworn Peter out of there than it shouldve. So much for Manny Stewart's prediction of a couple of rounds. atsch Klit is a big man with a lot of technical skill, but Peter was just another tailor made opponent that they knew he'd look great against. Povetkin would have been KOED even sooner due to styles. There's no guy who could test W.Klitschko in the division, but that's not to say its due to him. It's due to the division's lack of true heavyweights with athletic talents. They all go to other higher paying sports like basketball and football. Boxing was deprived of its depth and athleticism by those 2 sports. When the Klitschko bros retire, there will be no one to dominate because all of those poorly conditioned slobs and blown up light heavy's left will clutter up the scene. That proves my point about the talent pool being limited. We all knew Peter had 0 chance. Big brother stopped him even sooner. There's no one out there with the tools to make the Klitschkos actually "fight" against some adversity. If there was, I wonder if they'd be so interested in signing to fight. Valuev is a side show freak, Povetkin is made for Wladimir, and Haye is an undersized, blown up cruiserweight looking to make some heavyweight money. He's looking to cash out and retire. Helenius is the only guy coming up with any kind of a chance to test Wladimir's mettle. Hope he fights him when the time comes. This win by Klitschko over a damaged goods Peter does nothing for me. I give him credit where its due for pummeling the garbage that's in front of him.
Really, why do you have to come on here talking **** about the guy, he handled Peter like no one has done before. Yea, Vitali smacked him around as well, but Wladimir stopped him by putting him down. He did what he was supposed to do, and he showed a lot of improvement in this fight in the variety of punches he threw.
Klitshko has skill in terms of being able to throw punches well against a static or predictable target. Against a 'live' opponent there are SERIOUS doubts.
He beat a contender, which is much, much more than I can say for the other titilists. Helenius? You've got to be kidding me? Seriously? Who has he beaten to convince you that he could even carry Wlad's jock?
well unfortunately, the only guy who can beat is his older brother whom he wont fight for obvious reasons, so what can you do?
It was more a feat of chopping down the mahogany tree, that has never been chopped down before, in my opinion. We all knew Peter's power is overrated, and that he is limited in his skills. The only variable was, at least, to me, if Wlad would be able to get aggressive and take the thick necked, iron chinned Peter out...... And he certainly did.
Very true. He fought a laughably tentative and scared fight against little Sultan Ibragimov because Sultan was actually quick handed and fleet footed. Ibragimov was just too small to make that a fight and it was clear to see from an unbiased viewer. Wlad should have imposed his will that night as big as he is. Instead, he got laughed and booed out of MSG and hasn't fought there since. The man is just terrified of taking any degree of punishment in there. He is not tough enough to gut out a fight like his brother did against Lewis. Not even close.
Hey "Showbox Mike", your credibility goes out the window in the first line when you refer to the great Joe Louis as "Lewis". Klitshcko did what he needed to, though the holding was ridiculous. I'd tend to think the holding would be his eventual downfall, leaving open that chin so wide. He could've turned on the jets in the 5th and knocked him out just as easily. 2/10 entertainment, 9/10 performance...
Skillwise but it's questionable whether any of them could take anywhere near as much punishment as Peter - so it's hardly clear that any of them would last as long as Peter did.
Give him credit. Tyson's prime era and Larry Holmes were the same if not worse. Peter would probably knock out Haye if he fought him tonight. Thompson, Peter, Rahman, Chambers, Brewster, **** even Austin would pose problems... 4 languages, a PHD, sold out stadiums.. the **** do you people want from Wlad? Oh yea you want a raping ****** on 'the zolax' vs. tomato cans... go watch MMA or bar room brawls..
Since when is Peter's chin made of iron. -Wlad himself had Peters ready to go in the 12th the first time around. -McCline had Peter down THREE TIMES and almost put him OUT. -Blown up Middleweight James Toney rocked Peter in their first fight. -Even "Fat" Eddie Chambers wobbled Peter. That stuff's all on tape for the world to see. -Vitaly doesn't have one shot KO power since he came back out of retirement, but he still hurt Peter badly in the first round of their fight. The fact is, Wlad was in there with a heavy bag with eyes tonight, which he put on an exhibition against but still took way too long to finish. Peter? Iron-chinned? Please. His chin was as overrated as his punching power. It hadnt been tested until he fought a very scared Wlad for the first fight. I'm not shitting on his win. Im just being a realist. The people going around saying Wlad would KO a Prime Tyson after beating a damaged C minus level heavy by late stoppage need a dose of reality.
