Went cold for a while thought Ortiz would be the one after ODLH,Vargas,Tapia went away. Ortiz will still be good but hes tarnished:-( Rios lookes like the one to pick up the torch. Kid looks like the real deal. Dont forgot about Abner Mares either.

In a couple years look for ko artist Shawn Estrada at either Sm or LH.:bbb

2 big wins in a row for Rios and he has a fan friendly style, seems a logical choice for a title shot

Anthony Peterson is a legit top contender and i was highly impressed in the ease that Rios was handling him. I think he would be a nightmare for a guy like Katsidis. But it would be a hell of a fight:bbb:bbb

I will not say superstar because he just have a great chin. He will get outbox though.

    he did
but, i wonder how he'd do vs a boxer who sticks to a boxer's gameplan? Peterson got caught acting like a Puncher and forgot to be a boxer. But i sure wasnt complaining. Its a helluva thang to watch to see 2 fighters stay in the pocket and just tear the **** out of each other. Well, we know who paid the price in that one lol....

I WAS surprised on Rios' punch output capability. Was even more surprised that he didnt really tire out after putting in a real high punch output round. Thats something special if you can put up a high punch output AND have some decently heavyhands....

Maybe that was Peterson's gamble, that Rios would punch himself out of the fight by midrounds....

Peterson is one of the best boxers at LW and Rios handled him pretty easily. Only slickster i can see giving him problems would be Raheem but i would still put my money on Rios.

:yep:yepYey thats one of the biggest reasons im impressed with the kid. On top of his good power and good combinations, chin. The kid seems to be the whole package. I know its to quick to anoint him as the next superstar, but he sure looks like one in the making.

Peterson would have won or been more competitive if he had of use his jab and angles. Raheem, is a whole other story and he's a slickster , counter puncher and would give Rios fits.

I don't know about superstar, but the potential is good. How do you see the Mares - Darchinian fight unfolding?

Imagine the war he would have vs. Maidana at 140 or even 135 vs. Katsidis.

Its almost a pickem match up. I think if Mares handles his power(which he probablywill) hell have his way in the late rounds. Great matchup though . Im like 60/40 Mares, but i wont be surprised if Vic pulls it out.

There have been so many fighters in recent years who had "ALL THE GOODS" as a pure Boxer, but instead fell in love with "The Brawl" and it has cost them big losses on their resume and for some, it has cost them desire to continue with their careers. Prime Examples: Francisco Bojado and Derrick Gainer.

But with all that being said...Rios has impressed the hell out of me his last few fights. And It is extremely possible that if he keeps winning with this "Fan Friendly" styles versus named opponents (Katsidis, Soto, Funeka, Robert Guererro, JMM) he'll will definitely become a "Star". Everything is already in place...talent, charisma, handsome kid, speaks perfect "gringo" English to allow him to crossover to American audiences along with being able to tap into the Large Latino fanbase and with a few appearances on on El Gordo y La Flaca y Despierta America...He'll have big-time recognition.

Logical next fight: Rios vs Antonio DeMarco.

Fun fighter to watch, who'd you like to see him fight? I think Katsidis would be a good fight and maybe winnable, Marquez beats him WIDE or knocks him out imo
