Haye-Klit New thoughts?

Everytime I watch Wlad and Vitali I think Haye can beat them more and more. Especially if Haye comes on at around 215-220lbs.

He has the speed to catch wlad, and the power to KO him. With Vitali he can use simular tactics to the Vitali fight just be more active. Theres no way old man Vitali can deal with the speed and power for 36 minutes.

This is why I see it as such a shame Haye won't fight them.

Haye has the punchers chance against Wlad but I think he would eat a lot of leather as well and I don't think he has the chin at this weight, seeing has he had a weak enough chin at Cruiser.

Wlad by KO would be my bet, although I wouldn't be betting loads on it.

 

I agree with this. Haye is the best fighter Wlad will of faced. I think Wlad if the most difficult opponent of Hayes career, not nessercrially the best.

The jab is really just a range finder. He paws it out. Klitscko is effective but extremly predictable. If Haye is doing well he won't be able to adapt to change it.

 

How could you have possibly learnt anything new on Saturday? He's been doing that fight after fight for years. He was a little more aggressive than usual maybe but essentially nothing new, keeping in mind he was against an extremely slow opponent, it's easier to be aggressive against a foe that slow.

 

Haye has to KO him early doors.

First decent taste of the jab/cross combo and he's toast.

 

My thoughts are Haye will get knocked clean out. He's smart enough to know this, hence he's keeping up the façade that he's a great heavyweight, fighting bums like Audley Harrison.

when ruiz got the jab going haye couldnt avoid it and was getting his head snapped back, think it was round 3 where it was hitting him flush nearly every single time ruiz threw it

wlads jab is just a little bit better than ruiz.

hes got a punchers chance but thats it imo, i think he'll go after vitali anyway towards the end of next year

 

The more i watch i gain more confidence that there is a possibility. Haye needs to keep out of range for long periods of time and choose his moments to engage.

When Peter was swinging wildly Wlad looked a bit worried he doesnt like a fighter any closer than arms length. Haye needs to bob and weave get in and swing if he connects he needs to keep reigning in the blows and pound Wlad into submission if he misses he needs to get out quick and then wait conserving energy before doing the same again.

It cant go much longer than 6 rounds because Haye will be too tired to get past Wlads jab effectievly. Haye is too small to outbox Wlad he needs to attack 2-3 times a round and catch Wlad and if he cathes him not let him off the hook.

Tough ask because if he cant land effectively inside he will gas and get picked off and knocked out by Wlad. I would hope he could at least have Wlad in trouble at some point though he is fast enough to move in and out

Based on Saturday, Wlad is as one-dimensional as they come. And he’s so good at that one-dimension that it doesn’t matter. He’s not going to turn into a come-forward volume puncher at 34 years old, is he?

Peter is slow and crude. The only time we saw his “skills” was against a fat, short, unmotivated Toney.

On Saturday, he plodded forwards, with no head movement and no weaving to get inside. He was right in front of Wlad all night, which allowed him to land the jab at will. Once Peter was effectively beaten, Wlad unleashed more punches. Good use of left hooks, straight rights and a nice uppercut to finish things.

He will not use any of those tools against Haye, who has the speed and reflexes to take advantage of any gaps. Instead, he’ll come steady at Haye and use the jab to keep him out of range. He’ll land when he can (which won’t be often) and wait for Haye to tire (which will happen). Then he’ll drop the right hand behind the jab and hope to catch Haye as he steps to the side, or just back him up to the ropes and catch him there.

But Wlad’s not defensively immune and we’ve seen that Haye can adopt a game plan for a full twelve rounds. He’s disciplined, he’s smart and he adapts to his opponent. I expect his plan is to fight smaller than usual, move his head more, get underneath the jab and go to the body.

It’s a tall order though and Wlad still has to be the favourite based on his consistency.
