Especially in the summer during difficult workouts, I found myself getting weak in the latter third of my routine when drinking only water and losing a tremendous amount of fluids through sweat.

Since I can't stand sports drinks (Gatorade and the like....), I started making my own homemade electrolyte drink with 2 tbsp honey, 4 tbsp lemon juice, and three pinches of sea salt mixed with 1.5 Liters of water. Maybe it's my imagination, but I'm feeling stronger later in my workouts as compared to when I was drinking only water.

What do you all drink during strenuous 90 minute-plus workouts?

On longer workouts I drink regular tap water. I make sure my diet is extremely rich in micronutrients like vitamins and minerals (some of which function as "electrolytes") so I see no need for things like that.

about an hour before the gym i drink 16 oz those green drinks with raw veggie juice. if you don't eat a lot of greens i highly recoomend drinkign these since they are packed with stuff but you haqve to get teh right brand. it will take soem time to get use to the taste. when i am close to the gym i start hitting the gatorade for some quick sugar to get my blood moving.

me and a friend of mine work out in the forward hold of my ship since they have a heavy bag up there. we seal the door so there's ventilation but it's a sweathouse in there. I usually bring a 32oz shaker bottle with water in it and 2 things of gatorade. I only take the occasional sip of gatorade followed immediately by water so my mouth doesn't get too dry feeling. I usually feel fine the entire workout. i also take a scoop of n.o.xplode.

    i just drink water.

i have tried drinks like re-fuel which is a drink you have while training and is meant to give you energy. It made me feel sick sometimes, water is the best. I always have a whey protein with water after training.

I usually pound a few shots of cuervo and about half a forty oz sometime after calisthenics and before sparring. Works wonders!
