Boxing rarely works out like that unfortunately. Shane landed 2 of the best shots of his career on Mayweather, and he didn't even floor him. And that was it for the entire fight. Mayweather backs opponents up. Punishes them every time they try to do something offensively. Mosely vs. Mayweather was exactly the same as Manny vs. Marquez. Manny had nothing offensively after round 3 with marquez either. It's not just gassing. It's just not being allowed to box. Being broken down. Neutralized. It's very hard to fight guys who back you up EVERY TIME you leave yourself even slightly open
You have to be very accurate, controlled, and smart to hit Mayweather. Which Shane is. Manny is neither.
Depends how Floyd wants to fight it. You have to remember, Mayweather really turned up against Mosely wanting to brawl. He didn't like the guy, it was a long running feud, and he wanted to beat the guy at his own game. Floyd was very very offensive, and left himself pretty open by his standards. If Floyd just shows up against Manny, like he did against say, Oscar, then it will probably be a lot more boring...................
I bet ya anything, if manny was in ring and rocked mayweather like that, he would finish the job. Mosely doesnt have the movement Manny does. Every one of Mannys recent defeated oponents all say the same "I didnt see the punches coming". Manny is extremely accurate, but unlike PBF, he has power behind both those hands. PBF saw what manny did to hatton in 2 rounds, what he couldnt do in 10.
:goodGood Point. We never know when these guys will get old overnight. That does seem to happen. Sometimes I think it's genuine and sometimes I think the opponent has alot to do with it. I agree that now is the time. I look at mid 2011 as the latest before those excuses have merrit.
if manny was in the ring against mosely that night, we all know manny would have had twitching grandpa mosely out in 8. thats also why manny is the better entertainer. Manny could easily fight like mayweather. in and out, potshotting. Hes got the quickness. But manny has something PBF doesnt, a pair of balls. Margarito and Cotto are oponents PBF wouldnt dream of fighting.
I really really dont know, thats why im so eager for this fight to be made. Manny doesnt exactly target classy slick boxers as possible opponants and Floyd is exactly that but then Manny isnt exactly your bog standard brawler. I honestly dont know who comes out on top. If i had to pick for the purpose of the poll, and i have, id go for Mayweather UD. Which is what ive done.
When did Pac become this ATG finisher?:huh You mean the same Pac who knocked down JMM 3 times and one round and couldn't finish him? Or the one who threw 1200 punches against Clottey and couldn't finish him? Or the one who had Cotto badly hurt knocking him down twice and couldn't KO him? It's no forgone conclusion that Pac would have finished PBF off who is superior to those guys in every way especially defensively. PBF would have done the same thing to Pac as he did to Mosley, smothered him and bought time til he recovered.:deal
I'm not saying that Manny has the power Mosley had but there is one thing that grandpa Mosley can't do but Pacquiao can do, and that is to follow up his punches. Once he hurt Mayweather, Manny won't stop until he goes down.
Again did he stop til JMM went down? Did he stop til Clottey went down? What about Oscar and Cotto? The guy is not an ATG finisher you're giving him too much credit and not giving an ATG defensive fighter like PBF enough.:deal
+1 If the fight isn't made by next year, then **** it. Floyd being rocked by Mosley was a MISTAKE. He stated after the fight, he'll be talking to his Father and Uncle to fix it, so I don't see it happening again. Mosley set the shots up with a jab downstairs and coming up over the shoulder with the right. This is very similar to the junk emmanuel was able to knock Cotto down with, straight left to the pit followed by a right hook upstairs. I think Floyd learned his lesson, that he better start earlier if he wants to fight offensively coming forward. He can afford to work early, because emmanuel is very open to that straight right hand. The right hand is a battering ram, that knocksdown emmanuel's gates, and Young Mayweather enters the pocket to unleash body shots. If I was able to see Morales and Marquez force a hurt emmanuel to retreat to the ropes, then I know Mamba and Joy Sr does, and Young Mayweather gets instructed to hit the body. For a guy who's considered an offensive master by his fans, emmanuel isn't a good inside fighter, and he's needs space to get his offense off. emmanuel likes to square his shoulders and place weight onto the lead foot, leaving himself open for the jab. Morales and Marquez were able to control him with the jab, Marquez was also able to check him with the jab, and Cotto used the jab offensively until he was baited into war. Floyd uses the jab to keep emmanuel off balance and slow, measuring, and checking. Cotto, who doesn't have an elite right hand, was able to step back and then counter emmanuel's left upstairs with his own right. What do you think Floyd will do? IMO, emmanuel's left hand to the body will be his most important punch, but Floyd counters with a check hook and swims away. It's a long night once $ takes away that left hand; emmanuel relies on that left for a variety of purposes. Floyd has 3 inches of arm length over emmanuel, so the left hook counter over the southpaw right is practical. Floyd has very long arms, doesn't square up, and actually boxes tall unlike emmanuel's recent opposition. emmanuel lunges in even moar just to try to get at Floyd and leaves open for counters. Floyd's footwork closes off the angles to throw combos. Marquez was able to make emmanuel average 52 punches per a round for both of their fights. Floyd is slicker and smarter than Marq, I see him dropping emmanuel down to 45ish. Now emmanuel doesn't have his left hand, his volume, and has slowed down from the bodywork earlier. Young Mayweather by 11th Round TKO. The End.
I think it will be close up until about the 7th and Floyd to stop Pac in the 11th or 12th. But I think it WOULD be an exciting fight.
