just a general question, i cant watch UFC because it does nothing for me, glorified car park scrap for me. all im asking is there any ufc fighters that should be a pro boxer? cheers.
Vitor Belfort could have possibly been nice. Wanderlei Silva also. Anderson Silva too. Gomi maybe. I do think many of the top strikers, had they focused on it, could have been at minimum decent boxers. Some could be elites. The question is just focus. If you are focused and dedicated enough to be a top level UFC fighter you probably could have been a decent boxer and vice versa.
We'll never know. If Belfort could have been world class level in MMA, I'm sure with many years of training he could have done the same in boxing. Stephan Bonnar was a Golden Gloves champ, along with many others, so it's not too far fetched. KJ Noons put up a pretty decent boxing record for a MMA, then went back to MMA.
Sorry bro, but Wandy wouldn't have been a successful boxer, although his wild, brawling stand up is effective in MMA, he would be picked apart by any technically sound, top level boxer in his division. Wandy throws wild, looping punches, he would be countered and picked apart by boxers with superior technique.
yup Agree why would someone with Great boxing skills go to MMA? They make less money and have less of a chance of using there boxing if taken down. If your good with your hands got good footwork ect best bet is to go to Pro boxing. But if I have to pick 1 fighter with good hands it would be fedor's bro Aleksander Emelianenko He has the fast's hands in MMA In the Heavyweight Dev. A.emelianeko does have 1 pro boxing match witch ended up in a Draw
BJ Penn has good boxing for MMA and if he had dedicated himself to the sport as he did BJJ, he might have been very good. Has a GREAT chin as well...
I don't think any MMA fighters could have been elite boxers. If they were that good at boxing they would have followed that path due to the money. If you look at one of the most famous boxing based MMA fighters KJ Noons, he is not even top 500.
Antônio Rogério Nogueira has a very decent amateur record, but there are question marks over his chin. Though he has won Brazilian and South American championships. His brother has one of the best jabs at heavy weight too. BJ Penn has a great jab and could have made it in boxing if he took it seriously from an early age. Belfort and Gomi have very fast hands and could have had potential if they trained only boxing from their teens.
