Are you kidding me?

You have to ask who has a better chin?

........both Corrales and Casamayor on more than one occasion have been hurt, dropped, and on ***** street.

Everytime that Marquez has been dropped he's gotten up almost instantly, and has never fought a round holding on, on ***** street the way Diego and Casa have on occasion.
.....it has to do with Marquez having both a better chin and better stamina, the two go hand and hand.

 

For one, Marquez had never encountered a fighter as aggressive to move to and stay on the inside.
Though he stood his ground, he looked somewhat out of his comfort zone for the first couple of rounds......I'll note as well that the ringsize that night had alot to do with Marquez' abitlity to move around the ring.
That ring was as small as can be allowed.

......on that very night, the lead footed Rocky Juarez was able to find angles and trap the slick Chris John, in a fight that had John nearly knocked out late and one that was fought to a draw.

Once past the 3rd however, Marquez looked alot more comfortable, and was repeatedly nailing Diaz and making him pay dearly upstairs and down to wear him out.

Marquez did what he does best against Diaz, he adjusted to the situation and elements, and then just worked Diaz.


Btw, Addie, you make a big deal out of Marquez' legs buckling all of one second, not more than a few seconds had gone by and Marquez was completely recovered.
.....its not like Marquez was holding on for dear life in that round, it was an instantaneous moment.



Btw Addie, you're on point about Marquez' history of getting nailed while fighting too loosely and overconfident against a dangerous puncher.

If Corrales has a chance, its that way, and I'll admit that Chico was a hell of a dangerous puncher even while he was hurt. In the Casa and Castillo fights.....Corrales would often turn the tables just when it looked that he was ready to go.....

However, I do believe that would be less probable against JMM.
Both those fights you mentioned that Marquez was dropped against, the Pacquiao and MAB fight, it was the straight shot that nailed Marquez coming in........

Corrales power weapon is the left hook, and the way he throws it its easier to sense and see coming.

 

Fleet footed enough to applly his defensive manuevers and avoid getting stopped in that 3rd round in the Pacquiao rematch.

When hurt, Marquez dipping and waist movements are actually better than Casamayor's.......those dips and swivels by Marquez is actually what saved him against Pacquiao.

 

Corrales would eat more leather and have his chin tapped from a stand-in-your-face counterpuncher than one who moves around unless its as good as floyd mayweather. and corrales reach advantage is almost useless since he doesn't know how to use them. This fight would be TKO win for Marquez

 

Barrera's primary weapon was also his left hook, but his right hand had come on leaps and bounds by the time he fought Juan Manuel Marquez. You only have to see the beautiful counter right hands he was landing on Enrique Sanchez, former world champion, to see the difference between a Featherweight Barrera and a Super Bantamweight version. Are we beginning to get closer to you admitting that Marco had a pretty good right hand? :think

On a more serious note, I actually had Juan Diaz slightly ahead before the stoppage in his first battle with Marquez. You're not the only one who seems to think Marquez was taking control after three rounds, many people have said it, but that's not how I remember the fight going. We don't need to nitpick about the extent to which Marquez was hurt, or who was actually winning the rounds past round 3, but we can both agree that Marquez was in a tough fight against a fighter who isn't terribly dynamic offensively.

It seems as though we agree. Marquez should get the best of the action, he'll have ample time to fire off his counter combination's with Corrales coming forward with no head movement. I do see quite a few tricky spots for the Mexican though, perhaps even a knockdown, so although the winner will be clear after 12, the cards would probably be tighter than the action would suggest.

 

To add your post Mosquito, the way Marquez stands and is in your face is not in the traditional sense......if it was, Pacquiao would have had him out of there both times they fought.........Marquez is in your face as he unleaches the combination, and then he is quickly to your side and at an angle for the opponent to have a difficult time to get off a power shot.

.....this is part of the Marquez defense, though not pure in the traditional sense, its very efficient for the type of offense he likes to put out.

 

yeah he was very good at moving to the side to avoid pac's left. this would be another puzzle for chico to solve and he doesn't punch as fast as pac

 

Addie, I dont know what else to say about this situation with MAB and the right hand.......

I've already admitted to you in the past that I exaggerated my description of MAB's right hand for effect.......

.....but lets be real, MAB can time and get in the occasional right hand to good effect......but he's not a fighter to work that right hand consistently.
Whether its because he does'nt put it to practice or what have you, he does'nt do it and its very noticeable that he does'nt work the right hand........particularly those Paquiao fights where it needed to be.

Get over it Addie, I've tried hard not to go there in regard to MAB, knowing it would tick you off.
Believe me Addie, I dont post in this forum for the purpose of trolling and ticking people off.



Jesus, I've gotten to the point where I'm gulled to write something in the negative about MAB, to think to myself and say, "I hope Addie does'nt come across this.

Dont remember how many rounds I gave Diaz in that first fight, but it was either two or three......I surly would'nt have a problem with 3.........but Diaz ahead?????
Wow.atsch Marquez landed the harder and more telling blows, you could tell just by seeing it on TV.......and it was confirmed to us by Max Kellerman when Lampley and Steward were siding with Diaz because the type of exchanges were Diaz' style of fighting.......
....yet Kellerman was keen on noting, "to me Marquez is landing the cleaner and harder shots.".......then again, "Marquez is the harder punching fighter in there."

Lampley and Steward only admitted to it when Diaz was slowing and it was evident Marquez had taken over the fight.

Rematch I had Diaz winning two rounds, one clear round to tell you the truth........big mistake for Diaz to have tried to box Marquez.....his only chance was to fight Marquez as he had done before and hope that Marquez had turned old not to be able to hang with the pace.

......as it was, Diaz did'nt give himself a chance to win.

 

i see chico getting this one via ud, jmm is a great warrior, but chicos reach will be too much. chico is not a bum juan diaz whom jmm has trouble with in early rounds in their 1st bout. thats just my opinion.
