Round 1

A slow paced process has Alvarez jabbing and hooking right on the button. Baldomir lands a hook or two by dropping anchor and punching with Alvarez but is largely getting outfought by the younger and faster boxer. Alvarez is finding Baldomir a bit less willing as the jab falls short. Alvarez ducks a Baldomir attack and hooks him to the body.

Merchant says that Baldomir promised to "Knock the freckles off his face". I'm not sure I believe that, but it's still pretty awesome and almost makes me root for Tata.

Round 2

Baldomir is actually trying to box behind a jab and is getting hooked silly. Baldomir has yet to throw a meaningful power punch. Alvarez lands a combo punctuated by a clapping hook to the body. VICIOUS lead left hook catches Baldomir on the chin. Alvarez throws a right uppercut as Baldomir tries to jab-flail his way in. Alvarez accidentally rabbit punches Baldomir.

Round 3

Alvarez is now working his right hand into the mix a bit more, as a straight punch and an uppercut. Baldomir is committing to punches in bunches and timing Alvarez when he pulls out, landing a couple if right hands. Alvarez is throwing a lot and missing a lot but landing enough to do a number on Baldomir. Lead rights start to land well for Alvarez.

This might be the best round Baldomir's capable of having all night, but 10-9 Alvarez nonetheless.
