(Bernard Hopkins' trainer) Nazim Richardson feels that Joe Calzaghe is not in Hopkins league and it should be Jones or retirement.

“Bernard is the great fighter and he has earned the right over the years to make his choice. Calzaghe is a good fighter but there is a big difference between the two. Who has Calzaghe really beat? Where are the living legends on his record? The mark of an all time great fighter is the fights he has had against other living legends. Bernard has fought Jones and Trinidad and De La Hoya. He’s a class apart.”

Can anyone else believe this ****?

From a man who proudly proclaims himself as fearless & ducking no-one? :verysad

    Man, is this bull****! :fire

So - Let's recap. The three 'living legends' that Richardson speak of - 2 were Welterweights - good ones, I admit, but neither of them really accomplished much at Middleweight, did they? De La Hoya los-sorry I mean 'won' the WBO title against Felix Sturm (woooooo - What a legend!) whilst Trinidad beat William Joppy - Again, not a legend, and already on his way to being a stepping stone by the time Tito fought him.

Oh yes - And he LOST to Jones Junior.

So. Really - In the cold light of day, it's not THAT impressive, is it Bernard?

Neither is the suggestion of fighting Jones again (who has gotten his ass handed to him three times in recent fights, and is now also damaged goods), particularly.

But - If you're going to do that because you're ducking Calzaghe, who is undefeated, :hey in his prime, :bbb been calling you out for years :deal & more than likely actually going to give you a fight rather than fall over the first time you breathe on him :scaredas: , then it's a bit pathetic really.

    Call yourself a legend?

    I don't think so.

Be a man, fight Calzaghe or :hi: and look like a ***** - Your choice.

    :D

    Uhh - Who to? :huh

If you mean to Hopkins, it doesn't look like he's going to get much chance to at this rate. :-(

And I like the well thought out & thoughtfully articulated argument too. :patsch

    Nice one...

I would like to see Joe C and Roy Jones fight and the winner of that fight, fight the winner of B-hop and Chad Dawson

Hopkins resume is no more than okish. About the same as Calzaghes.
Thing is no one is going around saying that Calzaghes is great like they are about Hopkins.

Spelling in america they can't even spell proper english. This is how u spell Wales not Whales because they live in the sea. Ok if Joe did come to the US and knock him out u will probably say oh hopkins was Old. What will hopkins gain by beating a past his prime jones jnr, I mean it won't be the roy jones who beat hopkins at middleweight.

This fight needs to happen, if Calzaghe is ready to go to the U.S. like he says there's no reason why B-HOP shouldn't take this fight.

    You wouldn't though, would you?

You'd make excuses for Hopkins & then say Calzaghe ain't **** until he fights some other American, like Chad Dawson...

'America is built on winning'

What the f*ck is that about? :verysad

In case you've been sleeping this year, we've now got several good British champs, never mind the rest of Europe!

    How's about:

Ricky Hatton (we'll see how America's built on winning when he breaks all of Floyd Mayweather's ribs...)
    Joe Calzaghe
Clinton Woods (who would also probably beat Hopkins, and Dawson)
    David Haye
    Junior Witter
    Enzo Maccarinelli

    ...and so on.

Look - in all seriousness, the point I'm TRYING to make here, is that Hopkins is running scared of Calzaghe. He's called him out, Calzaghe's called his bluff, and now he's looking to get out of fighting him, instead looking to fight a guy who WAS a legend - Around 10 years ago...

I'm not joshing that Hopkins is a good fighter, but I think Calzaghe would beat him, and beat him handily - If Hopkins actually has the balls to face him.

    :hey

Time shall inevitably prove you wrong. Hopkins will outclass the grossly overrated Welshman.

Based on the fact that Calzaghe is a stylistic nightmare for most fighters - He's a southpaw, throws an unbelievable amount of punches from all kinds of crazy angles, has a great chin, inhuman stamina, excellent accuracy, a completely unconventional style that pressures bigger hitters than him into defeat (see Lacy & Kessler for more info) & has the smarts to be able to adapt to other fighters styles during fights.

    That's why.

    'Calzaghe is ducking Bernard.'

Dude - I refer you back to my original point.

Please re-read & then retract this point.

The ENTIRE point of this post is that Hopkins is apparently looking to duck JC!!!

OK - I just hope we actually get to find out. Then I'll enjoying reading the fallout when the fight result comes in...

Hopkins wants no part of Calzaghe and the fight will never happen. All this Jones talk is just excuses.
