    Former British, Commonwealth and European Bantamweight champion Alan Rudkin passed away earlier today. He was also unsuccessful in 3 world title shots, including 2 very close decisions, in what was a golden era for the Bantamweight division.

    I'm in tears. I'll send my condolences to Al Jr right now.

    One of Britains greatest lower weight fighters, I've said enough on this man before, fought in the greatest 118lb division of all time, that's me done I'm too upset to write any more for now.

    R.I.P Alan

    Never saw him box but he sounded like a great fighter.

    My Dad always tells the story of how Rudkin toyed with him in sparring in what was his first training session after losing in one of his world tittle bids, says he was almost impossible to hit, and my old man was an outstanding amateur himself.

    Very depressing news. Alan was an awesome fighter who would definitely be a proper champion today.

    Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in time of sorrow.

    Not too clued up on this era but i know enough to know that this man was one of our best lower weight fighters ever.
