Michael Watson vs. Julian Jackson at MW

I really think that blocking punches on your gloves from Jackson is alot different then blocking them from Benn.

Watson would be winning, then BOOM... he wouldnt be winning.

watson was durable and consistent. his defense is sturdy enough to weather julian jackson's bombs. i got him by TKO

 

I certainly can't see Watson successfully doing a rope-a-dope on Jackson anyway.PLus it's tough to see him minimising getting hit enough or having the footspeed/mobility to fight a cautious pointscoring type fight over 12.

That said, watson was a good puncher at 160 and he might be able to smother Jackson's work enough to hurt or drop him with some hard counters.He would have a better chance if the fight was taking place in england, where a slightly premature McCallum vs Jackson type stoppage would have a higher probability of occuring.

 

This one is winnable for Watson imo.. But its Julian Bloody Jackson!!
So I m not sure.

 

Jackson carried one hell of an equaliser didn't he ?
That punch that ko'd Bomber Graham is the most brutal I've ever seen, and the Bomber was a class act.

 

It's one of the most memorable kos for me I've ever seen.
Poor Graham was probably minutes away from winning that fight to.

I remember Michael Watson beating Dangerous Don Lee who was an avoided fighter and had stopped Tony Sibson at one time.
Physically Watson was bigger and stronger than Jackson and was a superb boxer, who knows.......

 

I think he was only seconds away.He was setting Jackson up to take him out and Jackson was bleeding and ready to go.

All these years later can see it clearly.

 

Benn and Eubank wanted nothing to do with Graham, he'd have made them look too bad and Eubank admitted as much.
He gave Mike McCallum all he could handle and Hagler, Hearns, Leonard and Duran wouldn't go near the body snatcher
I think the next punch Graham was going to throw would have ended the fight.
No wonder the middles and super middles are where the excitement is at.

 

I loved that era. Was mad on them, some great fights back there.
