Its the new generation they are all into the UFC not that i dislike it I actually dont mind it but I am a boxing fan from way back but the young guys now from around mid 20s down are all about UFC.
Main event have clued onto this and realise that they would make more money from UFC then boxing.
What a real shame we dont have another competitore for main event any more.
SKY use to have boxing so maybe they can take up where main even t are letting us down.

As I said I wont be paying for a steaming pile of **** which is what the UFC seam to serve up under bright lights with a few celebrities.

 

When the good woman of the house sees the next FOXTEL bill she will most likley also tell me I wont be spending money on that steaming pile of **** again.

 

You are grosslly misinformed how mainevent buys PPVs. UFC sells a schedule of PPV's approximately 10 months in advance, whereas boxing is much closer to the date (Which usually doesn't get announced around 3 months prior). Even if it was Green v Mundine II on the same day, Mainevent would already have been locked into UFC 124.

Both UFC 118 and 119 were generally regarded as lackluster affairs, and frankly it was a shame as 118 would have been the perfect platform to expose boxing fans to MMA as Toney was fighting. This wouldn't be so bad, but since UFC 100 the shows have been very inconsistant and very overhyped (and this was coming from hardcore MMA fans!).

You should also check out the latest round of ratings for UFC cable programs on SpikeTV, they're very dissapointing. And alot of media insiders are worried that the UFC is saturating the market with too much UFC and may risk a burn out (see WWE's up and down).

Vic Darchinyan may not be very popular but he will defitely get a mention in the mainstream media, whereas the only time UFC got any mass exposure was when it was in Sydney.

You're allowed to like MMA and UFC, but don't go knocking a sport you clearly do not understand.

 

SKY still play boxing PPV's, in fact if it's on HBO, Showtime or Setanta they'll show it.

As much I do not want defend anything Mainevent does Unsigned speaks the truth about the MMA events being booked well in advance. Do you really think they choose one over the other? It's pretty clear they have no idea about boxing and take whatever random offerings they can fit into their calendar, or budget. If boxing was properly organised we'd actually get to see much more, and the prices would probably imporve too.
