Golota beat Bowe like he stole something TWICE. Wladimmir has the best jab sinnce Holmes & Wlad's is more powerful than Larry's and he hooks off it too. Wladimir KO 8 over Bowe without any low blows necessary Vitali KO 6 over Bowe
Bowe really has to be the most over-rated Heavyweight of the last 30 years...The guy was outboxed and should've lost to Tony Tubbs but whatever, he got awarded the win...He fought 3 awesome toe to toe wars with Holyfield whom he had EVERY physical advantage over. I remember the Bowe era well and the guy was nothing but a spot picker. Outside of Holyfield, he defended his title against absolute BUMS...Dokes was totally shot, Gonzalez was an absolute joke...Hide, Donald? Um, yeah...Then he took on Golota who Bowe though would be a typical easy fight and look what happened...Even his carefully orchestrated path to a title shot was a joke...Tillery? Seldon? He avoided punchers like the plague, hell...He didn't even fight contenders. H e fought in a great era and somehow managed to fight none of them outside of Evander who didn't have the size or power to worry him. Yet so many give this guy a pass on what MIGHT have been.
I agree 100% The main reason Bowe is given so much credit was that he did have a decent jab & very good infighting ability. The thing is, with his natural size & power why should he ever have to fight on the inside?
With ease? Bull****. Bowe is about as good as fighter can be matched up with them, but he won't cakewalk either klitschko. Esp not wlad.
Bowe doesn't beat Wlad or Vitali, he gets KO'd against both. He was lazy, sloppy, and out of shape most of the time and his prime lasted 1 or 2 fights according to his fans. The Klitschkos have been near the top or at the top of the division for a decade. They are too well conditioned, skilled, disciplined, and intelligent to lose to a fighter like Bowe.
Yep his in fighting skills were very good but for such a big guy his boxing skills from range and defence were awful. He looked great picking on smaller opponents who didn't have the size or style to out box him and so were forced to fight him in close where he excelled. Which is why I think big skilled boxers like the Klitschko's and Lewis would be a stylistic nightmare for Bowe as he would be forced to come forward and cut off the ring to get to them, which would expose how poor his agilty was. He was good but not the all time great some make him out to be.
You are partially correct but, Bowe's problem was training after making the money, coming from Brownesville...He was all heart in the ring and never showed an ounce of mental weekness inside it... If you listen to him talk, you will know brain damage played a role in his life being in shambles...And you get brain damage from being too mentally tough to go down...
Oh Jesus atsch The guy went seriously off the rails when he became champ, that can't be denied, but Bowe V either Klitschko would be a very competitive match. He'd beat glass jawed WALDO 9 times out of 10 I think and VITLAY would be a close fight. Even though Bowe ducked Lewis I still think it would have been a war had it happened back then, and we all saw what old Lewis did to prime VITLAY.
Hes isn't though: Tyson and Holyfield both match up better, so does Lewis if we're not confining it to recent fighters, then I could go on (and on and on and on)
Either Klitschko would have major problems with a 1996 Golota, so what's your point? Golota had very nice skills and athleticism for a big man, and Bowe underestimated him.
he really did. i disrespect golota for not putting it together and wasting his considerable talents but he did have them
