frazier was blind in 1 eye ,when the other eye was completly shut it wasn't right to continue even thoughhe wanted too ali even said he wouldn't of made it out for the 15th and said it was as close to death as he had even been b4 he collapsed on the canvas ,they whooped each other big time in fight 1 and 3

    you people are stupid.

they beat the hell out of each other

but ali wasnt going quit, he fell to the canvas at the end of the fight, once he knew that frazier had quit, he would have come out for the 15th, and wouldve put more punishment on a very vulnerable frazier...

i give ali the edge in that fight, but both men were simply awesome

Do you know how much that man lies and bends the truth? He's always had a very flexible memory when it comes to the biggest fights of his training career. I'd actually much rather believe a well researched documentry over the deceites of that man any day.

To me Ali-Frazier three fights should be ruled as a general split decision for Frazier. But Ali won by SD in Manila.

I disagree-Frazier was the better human, but in the ring Ali proved to be the better man. Twice.

    Can't see your logic.

It's enough to say that in the first two fights Ali was constantly leaning on Frazier's head and pulling it down and the ref didn't properly enforce the rules.

Besides (to me) the first fight was a more convincing victory for Joe than Manila for Ali with 2nd fight being very close (not mentioning Ali's dirty tactics). In general Frazier's punches were also more convincing IMO. Commentators, the crowd, the judges - in those times pretty much everyone's head was in Ali's ass.

That said, it's a very close decision that I would call.

Ali whooped Frazier. Had he come out for the last round, he'd have left the ring on a stretcher. That's more likely than Frazier winning, certainly.

We don't have delusional Frazier apologists who really think Ali would have quit on the his stool? He'd have gotten up, hit Frazier at will with his right hand, and then go home the winner.

They beat the hell out of each other, but Frazier lost.

dundee though, great trainer, is too protective of his fighters and is pretty liberal with his own history. Reading his book he basically shits on every fighter ali and leonard ever faced, discounting them and embelishing events that are clearly not as portrayed (ie: the first leonard-duran bout). seems like a good guy and all but he practices some revisionist history.

Well, Dundee is the only person I've ever spoken to who was actually ringside that night and I have no reason not to believe what he said.

i did complete the sentence. it was a answer to what jorodz had said.

jorodz stated that ali had never been whooped.i said he had.i used the third fight with frazier as an example.
