Tyson was gassed out by the 2nd round... (NOT PRIME TYSON)

was so much Slower and sluggish (NOT PRIME TYSON)

so much less head movement and less ferociousness (NOT PRIME TYSON)

"IT WAS JUST NOT THE SAME FIGHTER"

This is Tyson when he was fond of Cocaine and Alcohol.

Not Buster's fault, He beat Tyson's fighting spirit out of him.
Look Mike is one of my all-time fav's, But Douglas beat the **** out of him.

Sure the longcount, The Not training excuse ect...
But bottomline Tyson should have dispatched Buster, He didn't he got ****ed.

His little buddy managed to fight at an elite level while doing cocaine and drinking regularly for years. If wee Johnny could hack it, certainly big bad Iron Mike should be able to?

    who was Johnny? WTF?

Alcohol has a serious effect on health, dont believe any alcoholic can fight on a elite level,

He did. If Mike didn't train for that fight, that is why Mike lost. It was definitely his prime.

johnny tapia is another guy who never fulfilled his potential.

it ain't fuking hard to see that tyson was losing sharpness even a while before this. apologist?

    :blood Some Tyson expert.

Also - do you have a medical degree to substantiate that expert testimony on the adverse effects of alcohol, Mr. Surgeon General?

Yes, it has an effect on long-term health but Tyson partying it up a bit and maybe even underestimating James Douglas does not mean that he was some kind of badly denigrated physical wreck as helpless as a baby between the ropes. It's funny how a still very young Tyson without any significant layoff and, to this point, without having been in a real prolonged war where he got hit hard for several rounds is suddenly "past peak" just because he succumbed to the same vices as any overnight success.

Was he past peak when Smith made him look kind of ordinary? Did he then double back to his "peak" for a few years before "passing" it again, or was he already shot when he steamrolled Spinks? What's it going to be? Did Tyson's peak walk the dog on a yo-yo string, or did it come and go before he was even legally old enough to drink?

Or maybe...just maybe...is it possible that you're making excuses for a peak fighter who wasn't at his 100% best (but not that far off) on a night where he really needed to be? :think

are you kidding me  johnny tapia progressively lost his technical sharpness as much as tyson did, sometimes content to just rely on his athleticism.

I'm one of the biggest Mike Tyson fans on here but I gotta admit Tyson was prime against Douglas. Mentally he wasn't there but physically of course he was prime. I agree that he wasn't peak that was against Spinks. Douglas, like Haterats said, beat the **** outta him I give him all credit. Toke a gunshot of an uppercut yet came back to knock him out a few rounds later. Ironically, Douglas-Tyson is one of my favorite fights ever.

    IntentionalButt

the way Tyson fought he was so much slower, less head movement, sluggish gassed out by 2nd round,

    Tyson fought so much worse.

he was not at his peak

He was "Slow" and thats for a fighter who was known for his speed.
