Mike was looking lean and mean, but he slurs his words so bad he almost needs a translator.

This thread started me thinking about how a prime Tyson would do against a prime Fedor or prime Brock. In an UFC or MMA fight, using 4 oz gloves, Tyson would rock whoever he hit, and it was a clean hit it could very well end the fight. That said, he'd likely lose to either Fedor or Brock, if they could take him down, which would certainly be their game plan, as no one in their right mind would go toe to toe with Tyson in his prime, and him having 4 oz gloves. But even though this would be competitive with Tyson having at least a shot at winning these fights, no way is it competitive in a boxing fight.

Both would get slaughtered assuming they could even get licensed to fight him.

Tyson had a relatively low stance, could see him adapting it slightly to help with his takedown defence. Would definately be interesting whilst its standing anyway

Tyson would have trouble against any MMA fighter with devastating leg kicks. Remember, Tyson has relatively short reach for a heavyweight. Kicks provide much greater range. If he got caught with a good high kick to the head it could be over real fast. He could also be softened up for a take down with multiple leg kicks. A lot of this would be decided by the match-up of course. Some MMA fighters would provide a favorable match-up for him while others would not. Also remember that punching power isn't taught, it's inherited. It's the technique that is acquired. Some MMA fighters have some punching power too. Freddie Roach worked with Fedor and admitted that he had dangerous power. His technique however isn't suited for one-dimensional boxing, it's suited for MMA. It's totally different when you have to defend against kicks, knees and take downs.

Tyson would've had a punchers chance but if he's taken down he's done.

Ignorant keyboard warriors like you make me sick,NO SKILL OR TRAINING
Are you insane?Have you seen how many world class pedigree athletes are in this sport MMA?...

Would you say Jose Aldo,Frankie Edgar,Anderson Silva,Georges St Pierre and Randy Couture have no skill or training?

Do you even know how many World Class Boxing trainers train MMA Fighters nowadays....Freddie Roach,Howard Davis etc

Boxing Purists like you are ignorant and are just jealous that UFC is becoming more popular, and you know why is cuz people wanna see "the best fight the best" and thats what the UFC do,no cherry picking allowed like in Boxing.

I love both sports and train alongside Pro Boxers as well as MMA fighters and we all respect and help and learn from each other!

I hate the US vs THEM mentality, anyone that has stepped in a cage or ring has my respect,PERIOD!
Unless you know what it means to be a pro fighter, shut up!

When Randy Couture faced James Toney...Randy never talked trash nor disrespected Toney even when he won.I know cuz I was there,he has class like the old school Boxers like Louis,Robinson and Marciano you used to have,Pacqiuao and Marquez also have it.

MMA is the fastest growing combat sport in the world!

Tyson knows it,and like Tyson said "I love the UFC cuz I'm just a fan of fighting, period"

Boxing is losing it's fans cuz why too much politics, and too many promoters and not enough fights
I was at the last 3 last Boxing fights in Atlantic City and the place was half full, what does that tell you?

Love it or hate it,the UFC is here to stay!

I'm still waiting for some Jeet Kune Do or Kung Fu master to compete in MMA. This might be an indication of how there's so much myth and legend regarding these two martial arts. Now that I've brought it up, I guess it's time to check youtube for such videos.

He can try to punch whatever and however he wants, he isn't going to land anything. He would get taken down and beaten, just like anybody else without any grappling training.

Then it's just likely to say "If he played football his whole life, or if he played baseball his whole life..."

There is crossover between boxing and MMA, but it's impossible to say if he would or would not have been a great MMA fighter, he may simply not have taken to grappling, plus with less time spent on his hands he wouldn't have been as good of a boxer.

    Way, way too hypothetical.
