A packet of tunes might be more in order to combat the flu than a tune up fight! Seriously, Thompson has fought so much already during 2007 I wouldn't have thought another fight this year was necessary in the circumstances.
you let your feelings for kells ass affect your sense of reason, ladies and boxing atsch on a more serious note john murray and meager are heading off to the US a day before the hatton-floyd bout the opponents have yet to be annouced but i'm sure they'll put some guys with decent enough records in front of them
Perhaps 'The Lads' or someone else from VIP could clarify the situation as there is conflicting info about the Thompson v Brook fight.
I'll let steve wood do so as I dont want to say anything that shouldnt be said. Im no spokesperson for VIP, just put down what info I have. Dont want to muddy any waters so I'll let an official spokesperson do the talking. Did anyone see Kells fight with karl David, what was the knockdown like? Also, I'll be popping to see Jamie and Mark in the next few days. If anyone has any specific questions they'd like answering / asking stick them down and I'll ask them.
Whats with the 'ladies and boxing' comment? On another note, I posted some info about the Dec 7th event in Vegas in this thread a couple of days ago. It is being billed as "British Invasion - The UK vs The World" in a special televised co-main event. For those going to the States, I have just posted info about ticket prices and sources in Gazoc's Vegas thread.
Isn't it UK V Mexico? Uk fighters could come a real cropper as the mexican lads come to win, as O'Donnel found out!
Haven't you caused enough confusion in this thread already? Saw an upto date article on Boxing scene.com about the event -"british boxers to take on boxers from around the globe". No doubt it will include some mexicans - hope the UK boxers give a good account of themselves.
You're far to well read for me dancing queen. I see the main event will be Enrique Ornelas' renmatch with Bronko McKirt. Should be interesting when coupled with Murray and Meager on the undercard. Craig Mcewan is also on there, heard some good things about him.
Harrison went over to Gleason's Gym earlier in the year and impressed the American's with his well-schooled style of boxing. He, from what I’ve been told – though Dean is too modest to say it himself – gave Paulie Malignaggi all the trouble in the world. He got the slot on that Vegas show after Ricky Hatton, who Dean had done a bit of training with before his contest at the Wolverhampton Civic last month, recommended they put him on there. Dean and Martin, who will really impress the American’s with his hard-hitting, all-action style, have both told me they intend to put on dazzling performances in Vegas against Mexican opposition. Martin, 10-0-1 (4), the current Midland Area lightweight champ and former British Masters light-welterweight champion, fights over eight. Harrison, 9-0 (1), will box over six. Young Mutley was going to be on that Vegas card – they were looking for fighters with American-type styles – but he was too overweight when they asked and boxes in Walsall next Wednesday (November 28) instead.
Cortez has got the Mayweather-Hatton job, thats a pretty good result for Hatton, he tends to let fighters work inside.:good
Elle, Just to clarify that Mark Thompson will be boxing on December the 8th in a 6 round contest in Wigan.Sportsnetwork won the purse bids for the Eliminator fight with Kell Brook and put the 8th December in Bolton down as the date for the contest even thougth they were aware that Mark was on our bill and Kell had been advertised to fight in Scotland on the 15th December. Mark has not been back in the gym long since a recent hard fight and a bout of flue , therefore he is not in medical condition to either prepare or compete in a 12 round contest. We have advised the board of this and that Mark is happy to take the fight on another date ,we are now in a political situation to see what the next step is and just hope the Board make the right decision . STEVE WOOD .
im sorry for being naive, i find it annoying when some women are mesmorised by a guys looks that they use it as there sole reason for supporting a fighter,,
Perhaps it is me being naive but I sincerely hope the content of your post isn't aimed at me as my support for a fighter is based purely on their boxing skills.
Thanks for the explanation - pretty much the same as 'The Lads' said all along but the clarification is welcome. Any news on who Thompson will be facing in Wigan on the 8th? Hope he still gets the chance to compete in a final eliminator - know he has got his sights set on a British Title.
