People often use this term, but what are they reffering to?Isnt every style a technique? Seems like pure boxers get the tag the most.

No. Tyson was actually more of a technical boxer than Ali.

The root word is "technique". Means a fighter uses technique to win fights rather than brute force alone.

Ali, Sugar Ray or PBF are very good examples of technical fighters.

Tyson has great technique. He had great head movement, used his jab to work his way inside, had a good guard, threw combos to the head and body, ect, ect. In his prime, anyway.

I think many hold Joe Louis to be a great 'technical' fighter. Usually boxer-punchers get the title of being called that.

technical stems from innate physical grace combined with mastery of fundamentals.

Technical boxers can have power too. Technique has nothing to do with power, it's about skills.

Mikkel Kessler is a modern good technical fighter. Alexis Arguello is perhaps the best example of old.

A technical boxer is someone who uses polished fundamental boxing techniques.

An athletic boxer is often confused with a technical one, see Roy Jones.

Technical boxers becomes technical because they lack the natural power to beat opponents. Most technical boxers esp the defensive one hides somekind of weakness, maybe he's a glassy chin or maybe has a small heart or a small nuts.:yep
