Surley hes got to be i cant see how people constantly overlook him, ye he suffered a few set backs early in his career against the likes of Spider Rico, but one he got his chance he never looked back. I means he got one of the most staked Heavyweight Resumes in history, Creed (D), Creed (W), Thunderlips (W), Lang (L)- Soon avenged, Lang (W), Drago (W), And even coming out of retirement to defeat the then heavyweight champion Tommy Gunn (W). Im not saying hes the greatest heavy of all time but hes got to be up there, What do you Think?
Creed was his only "name". Lang, Drago and Gunn were overrated/hyped. Drago's claim to fame was killing an old Creed. What the hell is a Thunderlips? Had he somehow beaten Dixon then I'd say top 30 but I'm not sure how he got the SD, Dixon won pretty clearly IMO.
Thunderlips the 7'0 Giant he fought just befoe Lang, 10 times more convincing than Haye or Chagaev's win over Valuev
He only relied on his iron chin. The Greed 1 fight should have been stopped after 6 rounds to prevent Rocky from further punishment, and the SD at the end was bogus with any kind of scoring. :bart He was a champion in a very bad era if he could beat the top contenders with his obvious lack of talent.
Ah, Hogan (didn't recognize that name). That was just an exhibition, but he did manage to throw him out of the ring which I admit was impressive.
Come on...I mean he loses to a bunch of nobodies, gets a lucky challenge for the title, doesn`t win, gets another lucky break...and when he is champion who does he fight? No one, just a list a nobodies until Lang beats him up bad. Ok good win against Lang after and somehow beats a shot Drago but thats it. Maybe top 40 HW thats all.
A PRIME Drago, highly touted Russian blasting his way with KO's threw the Heavyweight scene, Coming of a victory of Creed by way of MURDER. To top it all off Balboa went over into the lions den to meet this monster.
He went life and death with Drago but you must remember it was only Drago's second pro fight. Was lucky to catch Creed in the twilight of his career. Can't take anything away from the quality victory against Lang though. Having said all that I'd sneak him into the top 10. How do you think Prime Creed vs Drago would go? I could see Creed boxing him to a UD.
