Seeing the once-vital, handsome Moyer brothers vacant in a nursing home tore my heart out, along with listening to former middleweight contender, Alex Ramos -- admittedly brain damaged -- choked with emotion, struggling to express himself in the post-screening Q&A with the filmmakers.

It is sad but i will be honest, i think id rather live the life of a top professional boxer and deteriorate like that than live the life of a warehouse bum with never enough money to pay the bills other than the dope man.

That's what most of the damaged fighters present said, U.

Funny I should read this, because I was researching the film earlier today. So far, I've only seen the trailer but it looks really touching.

    Worth watching, John?

Yes, it's well worth watching. I received the DVD from the Moyer family and that very day, Denny passed away.

I have a very small part in the film, as the family came to one of the meetings for the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame, and interviewed me.

Very hard seeing the Moyer brothers like that, Jack. Plus, there's a segment about an amateur fighter brain damaged by a close friend in sparring 20 years ago. They remain close, but he's still racked with guilt.

Anyone know where I can track a copy down to buy/rent? I look for it on Netflix every now and then, with no luck.

Was there an HBO documentary of a similar nature?
I like watching this sort of thing, not for a weird reason but it interests me and I find it touching.

It's the ultimate trade-off for the glory of being a prize fighter.

It's bad, but not any more damning than NFL or being in a war.
