The Cooney fight was not exciting, neither was the Foreman one, it was a dreary maul between a confidence shot clubber and a spoiler who concentrated on avoiding fighting for the first half of the fight. Haven't seen the Bailey fight. I saw Young v John Gardner in London, he looked very smart, and Gardner was the perfect foil for him, Young dropped Gardner, not because he was a big puncher, he wasn't , but because he had very good timing. Young caught a blown Foreman coming in ,George was momentarily down end of ,you need to move on. He won the Foreman fight but not convincingly,the Norton fight was close but I think Norton deserved the nod, same with the Ali fight ,Ali was terrible and, yet Young couldn't summon up the ambition to take advantage of it. Young was an underacheiver ,and got the rough end of the stick in close fights precisely because he couldn't motivate himself enough to show the aggression needed to convince the judges he deserved the nod . MR NEGATIVITY.

But EFFECTIVE negativity. The judges were the underachievers by not doing their jobs with objectivity and honesty.:bbbScrewing over a winning fighter because you don't like his style and because it's "bad for business" is just plain wrong..Young beat both Ali and Norton..and you and those judges know it.
Stopping the other fighter from landing punches is ok ,IF you are landing punches yourself , NOt if you are leaning out of the ring to avoid engaging in the fight If I beleived Young won, I would say so. I think Young's negative tactics against Ali ,leaning out of the ropes cost him the fight ,I think he could have won it but did not have the ambition/balls to go for it. So he lost a decision , against a fat, 34 year old, ill trained Champion he should have beat . A unanimous decision by the way. Nearly man.
