As for Tyson's great stand up................. Buster Douglas. Now doesn't that sound stupid as ****?
Part of learning good standup is realizing it can be very dangerous if you're trying to win a match. In saying that, Rashads stand up is awesome.
GSP's standup isn't not that effective either, he's flashy but can't create some combo strikes or one punch that can KO somebody.. his stoppage of Hieron and Hughes was a culmination of strikes but not as lethal than other strikers..
In GSP's fights, I've noticed that he often uses his striking as an effective means of misdirection. His strikes may not be the best, but he does it well enough that he's able to use it to setup take downs and submissions. Every time I see him attempt something, I'm always trying to guess if he's only doing them to setup something altogether different.
I think he lacks pop, but the technique is there. Also, he is a low-risk fighter, even when he's standing. He likes to keep the odds on his side. When you are striking, if you put your entire weight into a punch, you are more open to be countered if it misses. GSP is a very cerebral fighter, the very best strikers are often instinctive fighters. It's the same in boxing.
Probably not but still respectable. He looks damn hard to hit, crazy ****** style wrestling stance. Can throw bombs aswell.
