I'd really like to see Tony going for this at LHW.

I know he doesn't wish to use it as an excuse, but he did have a stamina issue in his last few fights even though the last 2 were full 12 rounders, so it's obvious he has a natural fitness.

Maybe without that weighing heavy on his mind he can relax and show what he's capable of and find some success at his new division.

I saw him on youtube. Got the whole AA/ Murat thing going with the walking forward with the ear muffs on and happy to block shots. Looks to have some power in his left hook though.
God knows how boxrec have him world ranked at 19. Tony is by far the best guy he has ever been in with.

I'm not convinced about Tony Dodson's punch resistance and stamina anymore. I'll probably get shot down in flames now but thats my honest opinion on this fight that I'd give if Tony didn't post here.

Though looking at this guy on YouTube he's very average so it depends if moving up helps Tony or not.

As far as his punch resistance goes, Tony Quigley landed a lot on Tony in a barnstormer of a fight and I think his stamina should show an improvement with the move up.

He was a massive Super Middle and I do think that boiling down to the weight coupled with irregular activity due to niggling injuries and the like (this will be his 4th fight in just over 2 years) really hampered any hopes of success at SMW.

Without making excuses for him it could have been very different with a bit of luck - winning the Quigley fight on all cards until he was stopped with 1:30 left of the last. The Smith fight could easily have been stopped due to Smiths cuts - in fact the ref did say he would have stopped it had Smith NOT been the champ. But credit to Smith for he bravery he showed.

However, we can only speculate as to where that would have left him in terms of moving up to Euro level with the stamina issue we've discussed.

I just had a look at Dirks on youtube and he doesn't look much but you can only beat who's put in front of you.
