Why did Hopkins go for Pascal, but never took a fight with Dawson?

I've already stated how Audley Harrison will win, and i've already stated how Pascal will win.

I will look back and quote my post on Jean Pascal.

I can't be assed, typing much today.

    Hopkins is very astute.

    He picks his fights well.

Probably fancies Pascal more than Chad.

Hopkins should be retired ages ago. If Pascal stops him it would be no shock ..
    lets see what happens?

I quite like Pascal, his style and seems like an all round good guy. I really hope he stops Hopkins and impressively at that; in the last few years I've never watched a more frustrating fighter from a purely entertaining viewpoint.

Hold, cheat, fall down, hold, feign injury

He pisses me off more than Ronaldo :bart

Brother Naseem Richardson, does not seem very confident.

Side Note: This interviewer is quite funny. He gets dead close to whoever he is interviewing, and he seems abit gay/metro sexual.

    Nothing against that like.

 Nazeem is great. 'AAARRAAARRRAAARRARRGHHH Klitschko!'.

Ricardo Lopez is the best fighter he's ever seen? I guess greatest and best are two different questions. Obviously Lopez technically was brilliant.

He didn't seem that 'unconfident' even though he did deny that he said Hopkins was going to knock Pascal out. I'm a bit disappointed he's said that because he's normally a brilliant strategist and I don't want him to devise a strategy for Hopkins where he's not boxing and is instead pushing for the knockout.

I think if he truly boxes well enough and dominates he can't get robbed. He just can't if he wins a 9-3 type decision. Nazeem is right though when he said 'When Pascal hits his shoulder, the crowds gonna flip like it's a knockdown'.

Its never a good sign, when a technical person like Brother Nazeem Richardson. Has nothing really positive to say other than........."He's gonna knock him out"...........But how..?

Brother Naseem Hamed did'nt say how..? because Bernard Hopkins is facing a mighty mighty foe in Jean Pascal.

Bernard Hopkins has taken a fight that scares him, and challanges him.

There is no doubt about it.

I want to know who Richardson was talking about, but he would'nt say this person's name...?

    Who the **** is it..?

I'm convinced Hopkins has taken this fight, because he knows people around him don't think he can win it.

    Brother Naseem Richardson..

    Oscar De La Hoya..

    Shane Mosley..

Deep down, i don't think people around Bernard Hopkins think he can win it.

The problem is that for so many of his big fights, happens has been all about his ranges. Trinidad, Pavlik, outside he had the advantage, inside he had the advantage and he was good enough to keep those fights out of mid-range. Now that he's aging and with Pascal's speed of hand and foot, I'm not sure he has the advantage on the outside anymore. And it's gonna be difficult for him to turn it into an inside fight, where he's not going to look impressive either and he's not going to get the knockout.

I wanna know who Nazeem was talking about aswell. Wish he'd just mention names. Maybe whoever it is would have then stood up and taken notice if a guy like Nazeem Richardson is telling you that you have to talent to be great if you get off your arse and dedicate yourself.

I personally think Dawson is so flawed that B-Hop would've had no worries devising a gameplan. Especially as B-Hop has been shown to be punch-perfect against southpaws, and had little of the awkwardness and engine that Calzaghe had to cause Hopkins problems.

I actually think Pascal can cause Hopkins more of the problems that Taylor caused him. He can punch in spurts and outwork Hopkins IMO, difference being that Hop is older now and will find it hard to make it as close as he did with Taylor on two occassions. However, Hopkins seems well-suited to 175 at this age, is still fit as a fiddle, and technically, the most complete and intelligent operator currently active.

    Hopkins can do it, ugly.

Nazim might have been talking about Zab Judah? Hard to believe but he's still youngish and was very talented, and he was also pretty unprofessional at times.

I think Hopkins was waiting for HBO to build Dawson into a big draw... that didn't exactly go as planned. The fact they had to make him fight in Canada cause he cannot sell for ****, says it all. Getting beat by Pascal just killed it.
Also Bernard knows the public aren't too high on after that pishy fight with Jones Jr. He knows his time is up and its now or never.
