if this was a kickboxing match. sheilds lost. but its an mma fight and i feel that sheilds was on top most of the time. boring fight to me though.
Shields won because Kampmann let him win. He got paid for that embarrasing 3rd round tonight when a slight breeze would have KOed Shields.
How easy does Shields pass on the ground. I thought he won 2-1 but a lot of my friends had 2-1 Kap. Close fight but i felt right decision
SD was the correct call. Round 1 and 3 were pretty much obvious who won, but round 2 50/50. Round 1: Shields Round 2: 50/50 round but I had Shields. (1 good knee and a good last 40 seconds for Kamp, but that doesn't cut it after being easily controlled for 2/3 of the round) Round 3: Kampmann
Kampmann wooked good in the fight, but he was doing a lot of defending. Why he kept going to the ground is beyond me. He looked good defending, but he was doing just that... Defending. He needed to keep it standing.
I agree to an extent, Shields did nothing with his dominant position to finish the fight, but if you're advancing position that means you're controlling your opponent, if you get to mount then yes you are winning the fight at that particular moment in time, and more often than not Jake was in a dominate position. You don't have to be landing strikes or attempting submissions because in the cage, ring, street if you're in a fight and find yourself mounted you're losing the fight at the time.
shields is lay and pray. I wonder why dana even hired him, win or lose he puts you to sleep, but not his opponent.
You guys are smoking some ****. This is an MMA fight, not a wrestling match. A fight is supposed to entail attempts to finish off your opponent, not outscore him. This bull**** about losing a real fight on the street if someone is on top, well that's absolute bull**** if the person in full mount is just going to lay on top of you and not take advantage of the incredible position, meanwhile I'm able to throw you off me and knee your face. Bunch of crap. You guys need to keep in mind MMA entails wrestling, and MMA entails striking . But MMA isn't just striking or just wrestling. It's about position but you should still have to do something once you are in the position of your choice. I'm not sure Shields threw more than a few punches standing, maybe two hammer fists and one half assed rnc attempt. He had takedowns, and he passed guard and improved position like nobodies business, he is an incredible wrestler, fine. He still inflicted ZERO damage. Where Kampmann at attempted more subs, and inflicted more strikes. ****ing hell, Kampmann, as easily as Shields shrugged off his sub attempts, he had the more dangerous sub attempts and was closer than sheilds ever was to having a sub the whole fight.. So basically, in an MMA fight, where your supposed to finish off your opponent or make him tap, you guys are arguing a fight can be won simply by improving position. **** that noise, you guys need to check your ****.
I thought Shields won 29-28, it definitely wasn't a robbery. The 30-27 card annoyed me though, although it wasn't as bad as the Josh Thompson v JZ Cavalcante one a couple of weeks ago.
It was a poor fight but like most people i thought Shields won rds 1 and 2. Even when on their feet Kampmann wan't getting much done at all and Shields totally controlled the first 2 rds. When Shields was completely gassed in rd 3 i don't understand why Kampmann wasn't giving himself space and letting loose because surely after the first 2 rds he thought he needed to finish very very strong in the 3rd.
I think it makes sense of Shields to have a close fight considering he lost 20lbs in a day, that's unbelievable. He's at such an odd weight.
