top japanese based fighters CAN fight each other, though. tokuyama-kawashima, kameda-naito, etc.

i think poonsawat has a rematch clause with lee, so if he wins, i'd think this would open up Nishioka v Poonsawat. Let's hope the Thai - an excellent infighter - can adapt to the tricky and awkward Lee.

nishioka's promoters need to make the best of this guy, because he's fighting brilliantly right now and it won't last too long. Fernando Montiel is the biggest fight. Teikken persuaded him to come to Japan once, and ended up building Montiel, not hasegawa. I hope Teikken make him a big offer, though the size of the offer would depend whether he's successful vs Donaire or not. There is history for Montiel, who could bid to become the first 4 weight champ from Mexico in a challenge to Nishioka.

Neither of these Japanese match-ups were unification. They prefer to go seperate ways if there's a chance to have more champions for Japan. Unification is very rare anyway on the Islands, from the Japanese standpoint Hasegawa-Montiel wasn't even that (they don't recognize the WBO, neither the IBF BTW).

Top Rank is riding the waves of Montiel's win over Hasegawa so there's absolutely zero chance they'll let him fight Nishioka in Japan, they didn't even let him fight in the BW tourney in the US. Arum wants to put Montiel-Donaire on HBO, though that fight might take forever to actually get made, and in the meantime, expect Fernando to appear on Latin Fury cards. Too bad, but SBW would be a little too much to ask for Montiel.

What's next for the Speed King is a good question. As a fan, I'd love to see him fight next week, but it seems he's now fighting every 6 months, so don't expect him to do his magic very soon.

Okay, I made two gifs for ya. The 1st is one of Nishioka's 12th round flurries whey we all thought he's completely out of breath, the 2nd is scoring to the body with both hands, knocking the sweat off Munroe's back. Pretty chilling

Good fight. The sound of some of those body shots made me wince and Munroe showed tremendous heart.

Unfortunately, we've now seen the next obvious PED abuser in Nishioka. The size of his head makes it clear he is using HGH. Binman looked microcephalic in comparison.
