Anybody that doesn't think he is still a huge threat to almost anybody is stupid. Cain is just the better fighter.
I wonder how many of these wonder boys hav eva been in a cage fight b4, Lesnar has done very well in small space time, UFC is just that the hardest sport in the world. Lenar has got 2 work on his striking.
Carwin drew the blueprint to beat Lesnar and Cain perfected it.Lesnar will always be an attraction, but is unlikely to beat the elite of todays young heavy's. Glass chinned and no stand up game makes him easy pickings.
Not really. Mir is was close to Lesnar's size and weighs more than Cain. Apparently Mir has good hands... Mir couldn't make a dent on Brock in their rematch and got manhandled because every time he gets taken to the mat by a bigger guy his nonchalant over confident attitude allows him to just crumble. This deficieny has been exposed in him many a time. Likwise Herring and Couture are both fighters far too long in the tooth to be able to present serious threats to Brock's size and athleticism. Bottom line is athleticism and size will carry you a fair way but ultimately skills pays the bills. No one in the K1 revere's Sapp as legend just because he beat Hoost twice. He was positvely a legit threat purely because of his size and strength. Brock to me is exactly the same. Facts are Brock was handed an "opportunity" on a plate. No fighter in the history of MMA or the UFC has been handed a silver spoon the way Brock was. Which was clearly off the back of his popularity in the WWE. He rose to that and did well in doing so. But he just doesnt have the experience to best any of the best fighters at his weight. If he was in SF he would be as good as retired and on the end of beating in almost every fight against top opposition. The UFC is no different. Carwin himself is a rookie. He showed his inexperience by blowing his wad and getting subbed in the next round. This fight though highlighted glaringly Brock's deficiencies as a fighter. As Joe Louis once said every fighters got a plan until they get hit in the face. Unforuntately for Brock he hasnt got hit in the face enough.
King Mo who formerly had the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight title said he had people sending him messages constantly in the runup to his match with Gegard Mousasi telling him he was sh*t, Mousasi would wipe the floor with him, Mousasi is one of the greatest fighters ever, etc. He goes in, dominates Mousasi over 5 rounds, wins the title. And then he said he had the same people sending him messages of Mousasi was an overrated nothing, you're still sh*t, etc. Anyway, internet sports fans that typically populate message boards are some of the dumbest people on the planet. The Pacquiao-Mayweather discussions here show that. The guy is 5-2 in his career. He's beaten Heath Herring (good solid Pride guy for years) Randy Couture (a legend in the sport that knows every trick in the book in his 3rd career fight), Frank Mir (former UFC heavyweight champion), and Shane Carwin (a guy that got hyped up and then thrown off the bus much like Mousasi did in my King Mo example), while losing to Mir (his 2nd career fight) and Cain Velasquez (who just flat out beat him). If that's bad, I don't know how to argue logically with such a person when you consider there aren't many heavyweights that if given the same matches would be capable of going 5-2 if they had the same first seven fights in their career. A bit of MMAth here, but the fighter whose Lesnar's record is most comparable to for common opponents is Nogueira, both have four common opponents which is the most in common for any other fighter with Lesnar: Lesnar (3-2): lost Mir - 2/2/2008 (2nd career fight) def. Herring - 8/9/2008 (3rd career fight) def. Couture - 11/15/2008 (4th career fight) def. Mir - 7/11/2009 (5th career fight) lost Velasquez - 10/23/2010 (7th career fight) Nogueira (4-2): def. Herring - 11/3/2001 (16th career fight) def. Herring - 6/20/2004 (26th career fight) def. Herring - 7/7/2007 (36th career fight) lost Mir - 12/27/2008 (38th career fight) def. Couture - 8/29/2009 (39th career fight) lost Velasquez - 2/21/2010 (40th career fight)
I don't believe he has a glass jaw, it's just like everyone has been stating recently that he doesn't like being hit.
The only funny thing in that post is that in fact, King Mo got demolished by Moussassi. The only reason why King Mo won that fight is because it was in Strikeforce with the unified rules. Moussassi has alot more skills then King Mo, no doubt about that.
This is sort of true, but the thing about Lesnar is he reacts to being hit like a guy who isn't a fighter. He still has the sort of instincts that would make him look straight down, or even away from the punches coming rather than look at his opponent so he will be able to do something about the incoming strikes. The same on his back, he just sort of covers up and takes it. Most people go into a sort of panic mode when they get struck, and cover up.. Fighters generally don't do this unless they are seriously hurt and really have no other defense, it acts as damage control.. Brock still hasn't learned to do deal with being hit, or being in trouble properly. I'll add that its amazing what he has accomplished given his many glaring weaknesses. I'm ready to be a fan now that the hype train is gone. I like that he must finish fights to win, I like the potency of his gnp, and his athleticism, explosiveness (even though he is only really explosive for two shots). He still has loads of potential with his background, but he's not exactly at a stage in his life which makes it practical or reasonable to pick up needed striking skills.
look man the guy seems to be twice the size of everyone and just as fast and has am amateur background that the UFC roster DREAMS of having.. majority of his fights are him smothering the opposition with his giant heavy frame and who are the GREAT LEGENDS that he fought anyways?? a worn down herring?? i think youre and everyone else here are giving him alil too much sympathy for a guy who got a TITLE SHOT WITH A 1-1 RECORD against a hasbeen couture.. ya!! lets give Brock sympathy...atschatschatschatsch
