Martinez against Williams. I believe it was the post-fight interview that Martinez gave that made me a fan. I'll have to check again, but I believe that was really the moment.

    Israel Vasquez beating Johnny Gonzalez.

Getting outboxed and badly beaten to only comeback and tko Johnny late.
His fights with Rafa (except the IV) finally got him the appreciation that he was long over due from the boxing public.

Tyson era and just watching him led me to start paying attention to everything else in boxing.

If I had to name a single fight it's Tyson-Douglas.

I'd just like to say, I'm a hardcore boxing fan first and foremost, before i'm a fan of a participant.

Erik Morales vs. Junior Jones/ in awe vs. Injin Chi.

    Joe Calzaghe vs. Woodhall/Lacy.

    Miguel Cotto vs. Torres.

    Andre Ward vs. Miranda.

    Lennox vs. Razor.

    Paul Jones vs. Verno Philips.

Bernard Hopkins vs. Antwone Echols 1 and 2.

    Tito Trinidad vs. Oba Car.

James Toney vs. Iran Barkley/ Tim Littles.

All those were for different reasons, whether it was because it was the first time they proved themselves, in my eyes, they showed ability to overcome adversity or displayed certain skills. There are so many others i could mention and i didn't go into the pre-my era fighters that i fell in love with after watching their fights back. And i decided not to mention a whole host of domestic fighters for the benefit of the general forum.

I become a hardcore fan of a fighter, mainly due to their skillset/fightgame, application/attitude and mentality.

The Calzaghe Lacy fight was awesome. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Lacy was the pre fight favourite too

I never saw the Morales Chi fight live, Chi was like a monster from Tetsuo, a sick pumpkin headed unstoppable robot, another brutal war for Erik

Talking about Calzaghe, the fight that wowed me was the two-round classic vs. Byron Mitchell, who was coming from a questionable unification loss to Sven Ottke. Joe found himself in a completely new situation when he was put on his ass for the first time in his career, but pulled his **** together, jumped on Mitchell and ripped him apart. Very impressive surviving skills, that turnaround mentally ruined Mitchell, was a pretty good fighter until that point, but never the same again. Say what you want, but Joe could fight.

    Can't beat a good brawl.
