Atlas comes across as more than a little unstable on a personal level, but I love listening to his commentary. I learnt an awful lot from watching Atlas pre-fight analysis he breaks down styles and tendencies beautifully. His fighter-specific comments on Fight Night Round 4 are a good starting point for any fan. There have been a lot of nights when Ive watched him talking about why fighters struggle in the ring foot placement, balance, form, too-wide-punches, neglecting the jab. I learnt a lot from that about how to analyse a fight. He also really appreciates body-punching, which not enough people crow about. Theres nothing better than a great body-puncher.
colin hart - the mans a boxing historian with no real technica knowledge or nous about the actual ins and outs of fighting. he is also a cheerleading mouthpiece for whoever frank warren tells him to big up remember his article about mathew hall lol - he is the jr middleweight mike tyson, hes going to be a superstar and the best part was how hard he was because he asked calaghe outside for a scrap - joe laughed in his face it continually baffles me how he holds a senior journalistic position in the sport - he literally damages the game through his writing
i really like that on espn fights - him and the hispanic guy copying the styles of the fighters and then imitating what they need / will be trying to do would help educate your average sports fan watching boxing that it just isnt 2 guys scrapping with little thought or tactics and the nuances of the sport i could imagine spencer and jamie moore being quite good at this for sky sports?
Probably the only thread I have seen on here that is pro Atlas. . He usually gets slated by an influx of klit and pac fans. He just tells it how he sees it... Teddy style.
I like Hauser's investigative pieces but his anti-Golden Boy/anti-HBO agenda can get a bit tiresome. He's not a writer or a critic but Gus Johnson is an annoying commentator. Rafael's done another piece hugging the Klits and hating Haye .
Mike Katz & Wally Matthews. A pretty pathetic biased negative pair who Lennox Lewis made fools of, year in year out.
You're ****ing kidding me! And this guy gets paid for this ****. I just wrote a piece on a guy I know that fought Amir Khan years ago (Colin Bain) "where are they now" kinda thing. And it'll take me an age to get paid for that. ****. Not bitter.
These are different times to when you were first cutting your teeth writing about the game. If the internet existed and you could get a press pass from a website - I wonder if you would have declined? There are good and bad writers in the rags (as is the case with websites), and the boxing writers in the print media are few and far between. So I think the boxing game has a lot to be thankful for in that there is an army of passionate writers willing to write up bouts all over the country and around the world. As far as remuneration goes, not everyone is motivated by money - I certainly am not, I just love the game. There are a lot of boxers out there that are really appreciative of internet writers taking the time to write up a profile piece or a few paragraphs on their performance in an undercard. The worst thing about a small minority of internet writers (one or two cases that I have noticed) is that they suddenly think they are Mr Bigtime Boxing Writer and take liberties slagging off other writers because they look down on the website that they are writing for or drop the odd typo etc. These people are sad *******s and utterly pretentious wannabe Sammy Glick's:good
In my opinion for what it's worth it should be about starting at the bottom step and looking towards the next step as opposed to staring at the top of the staircase...:yep Please tell me to bollox if you don't think that this is the case...:good
"The shite seat"? Sounds more like the electric chair! "Serving your time" obviously involved some hard time Buncey :yep
