Sebastian Sylvester is one of the weakest champs..

And what do 'Germans' have to do with anything? Just look at Andre Berto's opposition for Chrissakes. Sylvester is not the best champ out there that's for sure, and he does have losses, but knocked out the Castillejo who holds a KO win and a close loss to Sturm. Sylvester didn't steal the IBF belt either, he got in position vs. Simon and beat Lorenzo fair and square. He should've lost to Karmazin (who got robbed vs. Spinks as well) but did you just call Karmazin poor opposition?

 

I think i have seen Oral fight a few times.

If he is the boxer i am thinking of then he is not to. Quite tidy and well skilled. Should give Sylvester some problems and could nick it in a close fight, especially if Sylvester is not on top of his game.

that was one of the most brazen examples of cheating ive ever seen. sauerland jr walks over, looks at the cards, causes a fuss, cards get changed. sylvester wins. it was insane

 

Why do people claim that every close decision in Germany is a robbery? its just a myth imo, people hear that theres a close fight or a sd/md in Germany they automatically think that the visiting fighter was robbed. The Karmazin fight was legit close and it could have gone either way. Sylvester getting the decision was fair just as Karmazin getting the decision was fair

 

German promoters put on crap fights and the only reason he fought Karmazin was because he was mando , look at the fighters he has fought as voluntarys - Billy lyel and Mahir Oral , says it all really

 

He wasn't even talking about the fight and the situation, he was simply raging BS, and I replied to that. If you call Castillejo, Lorenzo and Karmazin poor opposition, then something is wrong with you. That's what the division has to offer until the new crop arrives, and when they do, that will be the end of Sylvester. But it was still nothing like Cintron & team talking the ref out of the already decided KO win for Martinez, and after 12 rounds, robbing him just to be sure. **** unfortunately happens everywhere.

 

I disagree friend, Sven Ottke proved that getting a decision in Germany is far harder than getting a decision in other parts of Europe and America. And Karmazin easily won 7-8 rounds of that fight, it was a bad robbery, and there was no way Slyvester deserved the win. But he did win, because of Sauerland's persuasion of the judges.

 

Wasnt billy lyell a late replacement ?

when people sometimes look at for oscars career and say well he should be 38-3 or watever i think hey man what matters is whats written on boxrec - but in the case of maravilla v cintron forget about it!

 

Who should he fight then? I mean give me names who are willing and able to fight Sylvester right now, because guys like Matthew Macklin are fighting the Ruben Varons of the world.

 

I think with all the talent coming through at 160, Sylvester's time will be up soon. Even if he stays at home and fights mandatories, he's going to come up against someone who's too good soon enough.

I think it's fair to say he's not on Martinez or Williams' level and Sturm has already beaten him. Golovkin, Pirog, N'kijam and Korobov would all fancy their chances against him. Macklin is hoping to face him soon also.

I don't rate Sylvester that highly - I wouldn't be surprised if Lee, McEwan or Jacobs beat him right now.

 

I´ve seen an even fight and not a dominant Karmazin. Close call but no robbery.

As concerning Ottke, he had one robbery in Reid but all the other fights were close decisions but no robberies. Ottke simply had another fighting style. Quicl in and out without getting hit to much. Not the nicest thing to watch but quite effective...

 

Pirog would tool this guy.

 

Sylvester struglled against good oposition or lost(Sturm,Lorenzo & Karmazim),and now Saureland are milking the belt as they do with all their fighters, but defintly is not the worst champion out there, I even think he could get better, he is only 30.

 

The thing with Ottke was that there were so many close decisons that just happened to swing his way. Mads Larsen, Byron Mitchell, Charles Brewer twice, Glen Johnson were all questionable decisions that fell in Ottke's favour. And it's not too much of a stretch to say that if these fights had occured on the losing fighters home town or country, or even at a neutral venue, that the losing fighters may not have lost this time around. Sven had too many close call's to be lucky, there was something fishy going on there.
