    Fedor's slowed down

Overeem's peaked into an absolute monster

Do you think he's taken over from Fedor yet?

He'll need to beat a few more ranked fighters first.

Better than Fedor? I'd have to see them fight.

How on Earth would Overeem even be considered over the guy who beat both of these guys?

Because Fedor made a silly mistake he would not repeat again, and Overeem is a totally different animal

Let me put it back on you - if they were both to fight again who you think would win?

Not yet. Overeem will be the man to carry the torch. Fedor is still dangerous.

    I would pick ****ing Werdum.

He has gotten better as well; he stopped wasting his time babysitting CroCop and went to ChuteBoxe.

Fedor didn't make "a silly mistake" he did what he always does, try to pull out of arm attacks by posturing up; difference is that Werdum sweeped him so that he had no base to posture up from.

It wasn't an accident, it was Fedor doing what he had always been able to before, but it didn't work this time.

He's airborne while the arm is trapped.

    No.
He's never sat inside a triangle for that long. Ever.

His mistake came way before that gif.

Depends what you mean by best. On a H2H id give Overeem a great chance to beat every single Heavyweight on the planet. The man is ****ing huge, his striking is obviously world class giving the guys hes destroyed in K-1, the wrestling is good, the GNP is good and so is his Jiujitsu. Overeem is a terrible matchup for anyone but his Heavyweight resume in MMA is pretty bad or atleast compared to the other top guys. The best win is probably Brett Rogers and that probably doesnt even make the top for Fedor's best wins. I think Fedor, Cain, Lesnar, JDS and Werdum and possibly even Barnett deserved to be ranked ahead of Overeem based on things like resume, current status and of course ability dont forget Werdum he might be somewhat one dimensional but his resume speaks for itself submitted Fedor and Overeem. On an ability wise id rank Overeem right up there with Cain, JDS and Fedor but at some point hes gotta beat top 10 ranked fighters in the Heavyweight divison.

That gif is the start of the triangle; whatever happens after that is irrelevant really.

He had never stayed in a triangle that long because nobody had that good of one on him; look how far across his left hand is. It's a wrap from that point forward.

Usually, say in the Nog fights, he was able to clear the trapped hand, throw the legs to the side with the outside hand, and pass or stand up. Werdum gets it clear across his body, and then gets two hands on it.

You'd pick Werdum over Fedor and Overeem again? I guess it's a subjective thing, but i don't think too many would do the same

Fedor played right into Werdum's strength. He's always done this in the past and got away with it, but my guess is he'd fight a rematch far more sensibly, and strike him into oblivion

I cant see how anyone could pick Werdum over either guy if they fought to their own strengths not Fabricio's

I'd take Fedor in a rematch.
I'd take Werdum in a rematch against Overeem.

What do you mean fight to their own strength? What is Fedor's biggest strength? Ground and Pound.

Overeem had plenty of time standing against Werdum, he simply couldn't hang with him on the ground though.

Basically Werdum is better than anybody in the world on the ground, and MMA is still primarily a grappling sport.

No, that gif is the start of the second triangle attempt. Fedor escaped and passed the first one and was clearly too preoccupied with punching instead of keeping Werdums legs to the side. Werdum was able to turn his body around again and face Fedor. This is where this gif starts.

He was way overzealous with his punching(for w/e reason). Fedor usually is that active once he hurts someone but he was simply not as careful as he was against Nog.

There was no sweep, there was no magic. Werdum simply sat there and tried to face Fedor so he can work his guard. Fedor on the other hand lazily laid on top of Werdum, top heavy, while whaling away with hammer fist.
Because Fedor was top heavy and Werdum managed to flip around to face Fedor, Fedor slid into the triangle himself. All Werdum had to work for is throwing his right leg over.
