What?! So he competes in Wushu events? Hmmm... No wonder he only fights like once a year.

John had his moments, but no way did he win that fight against JMM. John was fighting like a 10 second fighter. Hell, even a draw would of been controversial. I don't hate the guy, I really do think he has a chance against Gamboa, Lopez, and Caballero.

Yep, he's really good too. I honestly believe that he enjoys wushu more than boxing...but he obviously makes quite a bit more boxing.

I had him winning the Marquez fight by two points, JMM didn't help himself by getting two points deducted for repeated low blows.

I thought I read something about back-to-back injuries.

Does not explain his next opponent - unless he's looking for a soft touch?

Hope he gets back in the mix soon.

Rocky Juarez was competitve and on the verge of stopping John in the last round of both their fights.....
......saying this, John imo is a non-factor as far as rating him up the scale with the better champions.

Rocky Juarez, Jorge Barrios.....thats about where I'd put John as far as level is concerned.

since when does KO percentages equate to how good a fighter is? who knows, this dude could be slick. either way, I expect John to pick up a decision here and fight Gamboa. I can see John winning quite a few early rounds, but if he gasses like he did against Juarez and almost got stopped, hes definitely getting stopped against Gamboa, but if he can stick to his gameplan and not get tired out, this could be a tough fight for both guys

The last time he fought was a year ago. I think it's okay for him to have a tune up. I really hope he fights Gamboa or some top level opposition next though.
