Vastly underestimating hopkins. Aynone that thinks anybody is going to embarasse and ko hopkins knows nothing about boxing. The man can't be hit cleanly and joe is not a power puncher. I say hopkins embarrases joe and all his fans finally realize he never even beat a great fighter. Everyone makes to much out of him beating Kessler, Hell he has never beat anyone.

I am not a Compu Box tech so I couldn't say but it's gonna happen bigtime in this fight, like it or not. Also Hops hasn't fought his entire career at 40+ yrs of age (where he has been noticeably less busy than earlier is his career) and none of the guys he fought (when he was 40+) will be as busy as Cal will be.

What do you mean by "outworked"? How many times has somebody thrown more punch's than him in a fight?

Calzaghe will be the favourite, but only just, as he'd be moving up in weight and he'd be fighting the no.1. At least that's the way the bookies would see it, i think.

If BHop beat JC it would rank about the same as RH beating PBF.

Both could happen, just unlikely but thats the beauty of :bbb

Bernard is the definition of shot imo.

Unless you take shot to mean more 'burnt out# ala Vargas...

Hopkins was so obviously done and finished 'vs' Wright I'm surprised boxing fans cant see it - Wright/Hopkins, = worst fight ever televised.

Calzaghe the favorite without any doubts. Younger, faster, undefeated, coming off an impressive victory.

There is more chance of me emigrating to outer Mongolia and becoming a nomadic goat farmer than Hopkins winning this fight.

Hopkins is clearly way past his prime and has declined a great deal but he isn't shot. He was throwing 40-50 punches a round and was throwing combinations that a shot fighter wouldn't be able to do. His foot work and balance were also good. He fought an ugly fight to win but didn't look shot at all. He has looked better in his last 2 fights than he did against Taylor though he did look like he had lost some hand speed against Wright.

If you think Hopkins/wright was the worst ever televised fight you have been very lucky and haven't watched nearly enough fights.

Hopkins is a definate underdog but I wouldn't be that shocked if he won a close decision. He has a very good track record against southpaws and is very hard to look good against.

POP QUIZ ANSWER (sorry, had to run to the store....)

    3 Times...

Two by design, where he let Taylor punch himself out (and Hops still outlanded him by a good margin).

Once by Roy Jones in 1993.

Now for the people claiming that Joe will just outwork him and that he doesnt throw enough punches, it just isnt a forgone conclusion. I mean, yes, Joe can throw in excess of 1000+ punches, but Winky was also known to do the same (on quite a regular basis...even in the fight BEFORE the Hopkins one), yet he was outworked and outlanded. The manner in which Bernard fights negates your ability to throw in bunches.

That is not what will happen.

So then, seems unanimous that everbody sees Calzaghe as fave to win....yet B-Hop thinks hes the man who should get the lions share of the money. Yeah he's the champ, but hes still an old middleweight lol. Joe is the bigger man, the undefeated one, and a champion with 3 belts himself.

I not so sure this fight will happen and I dont really care as I see it as nothing more than a money fight for both of them. As far as I'm concerned they both only after pension money. Joe will win if it happens though.

I concur. I picked against Hopkins against Tarver and Wright because I thought he would get outworked by them. Tarver showed in the 2nd fight with Johnson he could set a high workrate and Wright has always had a good punch output ever since Harry Simon outworked him in their fight.

Many watch Hopkins' fights with Taylor and think the same thing will happen with any good fighter who can set a good pace. This has been proven wrong against Tarver and Wright. I personally think it was Taylors speed and jab that resulted in Hopkins being beaten. Hopkins was unable to get in positions to throw due to Taylors jab and was therefore outworked.

Calzaghe will not win because he will simply outwork Hopkins. He will win if his jab and speed are able to control Hopkins and keep him from setting himself to throw and land punches. Though Calzaghe being a southpaw may make that harder for him to do unlike Taylor. But Hopkins is older, heavier and slower than the version that fought Taylor and Calzaghe is faster than Taylor also, which is why in my mind Joe is the favourite, but not a big one.
