I dont mind a stay busy fight, but dont sanction this GARBAGE as a title fight

Fulgencio Zuniga is making his light heavyweight debut (gets title shot)
Fulgencio Zuniga is currently rated # 62 in the world as a

    !!!!

NEXT up for Zuniga is a shot at the IBF Light Heavyweight title

side note on the Anibal Miranda guy - hes from Colombia
in his last fight he fought Milton Nunez (from Colombia) who was the guy Gennady Golovkin knocked out in 58 seconds this year for the WBA "interim" middleweight title
    Fulgencio Zuniga is from Colombia

stuff like this makes boxing a joke and the IBF is now a joke for sanctioning it
    :deal:-(

took a guy like glenn johnson
32 fights to get a crack at middleweight title
after he lost took him 6 fights to get his next shot a supper middleweight title
after he lost that fight took him 9 more fights to get next shot at a light heavyweight title

so it makes me sick to see how they reward a guy like zuniga but make a guy like johnson work like a dog and beg for his shots

I hear you. Johnson is a guy who has earned every penny he has made.
I see no benefit to Cloud fighting this muppet.

Yeah I agree with you. I would have rather Cloud fought a natural light heavy like Diaconu or Chris Henry. But he's taking an easy fight before he has to fight either Pascal or Dawson.

only gripe i have against this fight is zuniga has never fought at 175, hes rated currently as # 62 at 168...thus this should not be for his light heavyweight title...it cheapens the belt....and should be against the IBFs own rules

I know that INTERBOX were planning to put Diaconu against Cloud and HBO was actually warming up to that idea. I wonder if they're still considering that fight which would certainly be much better than Zuniga...

From what Cloud's manager said, they're considering that and Dawson and maybe a few other opportunities for next year.

This is just a tune up fight for a guy whos hasn't been very active and has shown some serious ring rust his last couple times out. It really shouldn't be for a belt, but as a fight itself, it's not terrible...dude needs experience and activity badly.

well, if he wants to fight on HBO, it will have to be against a guy like Diaconu...because i dont see HBO putting this crap on

At first I think that HBO were looking forward to a double header consisting of Bute vs Pavlik headlining the night and Diaconu vs Cloud on the undercard of a HBO Boxing After Dark event.

If they do Diaconu vs Cloud, it should be sooner than later.

From what I understand Cloud's taking this fight on short money and little-to-no television outlets. This is the definition of a stay busy fight. They're looking for a name fight for HBO for next year.

Yeh, I think they would settle on Diaconu, it's a win both ways I think and from what I understand they're trying to get the fight in the first quarter of next year.

That's right but the problem now is that Pavlik may stay at Middleweight after the Vera fight and INTERBOX don't want to have Diaconu on the same card as Bute anymore... which has an HBO date on March 12th 2011 :patsch
