George was still as devastating in 1974 as he was the previous year. He was n't quite the same after Zaire. In his second career,he seemed to go downhill after the Moorer fight, imo.

George's career was the stuff that fairy tales are made of.

True but red hot he was "only" for 3 years. Unbelievable run.

Fernando Vargas. He was around, and making some noise, then he was gone. When he came back he didn't have it anymore.

Kelly Pavlik. Chris all mighty. I don't know how many classic posters keep current with modern boxing developments but the mans career is a disgusting, head shaking train wreck the past few years.

I remember some people saying he would surpass Hagler and Monzon.

Suzie used to be adamant he was an ATG in the making.:lol:

I'm not laughing saying it was a ridiculous claim, more what the situation is in hindsight. He certainly looked capable of being far more then he ended up being, even after the Hopkin's loss.

Personally, I always thought he would fight Abraham and get KOed. Some of his fights were great to watch though. Miranda, the first Taylor fight.

DeJesus put together a decent win streak after Duran III, but looked utterly ancient at 28 when the older Mamby slammed the door on his career. Don't know what to think of Armstrong-Ross. Was Hank simply too great, or did Barney also decline abruptly to the point where he could get dominated like that? (Ross did seem to age rather prematurely after the war.)
