He's fighting someone else in december, opponent unknown yet, but he said that he'll probably fight Rubio next after that. I personnally think it's too early for a Williams or a Martinez for him, but who knows.
Whats with this Montreal match making?****ing pathetic. The promoters are hustling the poor sods who actually believe these out of town opponents have a shot at winning against the local fighter.Fat ****ing chance!:-(
The WBC ordered it, what are you talking about ? Nobody in Montreal had **** to say about it. Lemieux is 21 for god sake and he's getting his first eliminator fight. Who should he be fighting, Vlad Klitschko ?
Your right, Dawson never had a chance to beat Pascal. And your also right to say that Montreal's promoters have the power to order eliminators...:rasta
I understand your complaint, but not for this fight... this is a decent fight, especially for a PROSPECT
This is a good step up for Lemieux. Rubio is a solid veteran with some power but he is made for someone like Lemieux. This should be another ko win for him and a nice ranked opponent on his resume. I'd be surprised if it happens in December that only 2 months away. This will probably be one of the spring dates Lemieux has on ESPN. Fight should be entertaining but short. Lemiuex by ko by round 6-7.
This is an interesting fight for Lemieux. It's obviously a challenge but if he comes out on top, depending on the manner of his victory, he could end up scaring a lot of the top fighters away. Right now, he's seen a young, hard hitting prospect but just that - A prospect. Rubio is his biggest challenge yet and a good, rugged fighter. I think it's entirely possible that Lemieux could not only stop him, but knock him out clean. If he does that, Lemieux goes from being a prospect to a geniune knockout artist who the top fighters won't want to face. Pavlik is seen as a big hitter, and rightly so, so if Lemieux can improve on what Pavlik did slightly, it will be a great win for him. There's been some talk of another first round KO already and if that happened, Lemieux would have serious presence. That's a huge factor for a boxer to have and gives them the mental edge in any fight. Against Williams, for example, I would pick Lemieux to win that fight if he knocks out Rubio, but if Rubio takes him 12, I'd favour Williams and I don't say that because it's a sign of how hard Lemieux hits but it would completely change Williams' mindset and tactics. No way would he fight his usual fight, against a guy who knocked Rubio out cold. So this is a very interesting fight for Lemieux, not just because of the task at hand against Rubio but because if he is impressive against a tough, rugged veteran, it will send true shockwaves through the division and give him an invaluable ring presence that will give him a boost against the elite of the division.
Gnarly! can not wait for this fight, it will be a real hard fought fight. hopfully rubio will test his chin.
Lemieux will destroy that guy. I would be shock if it goes past 3 rounds. I read that Lemieux sometime do sparring with Jean Pascal. This tell us how talented he is at this stage of his career. If he can compete with Jean Pascal he will kill a b class middleweight fighter like Rubio
This fight is legit, but in the case of Steve Molitor promoters are really butt ****ing the Canadiens bareback with his matchmaking.
It's too late notice but it would have been amazing to see Rubio vs Lemieux on the undercard of Pascal vs Hopkins !!
