Just sat and watched the fight on YouTube. Looked like an amazing fight and an even better atmosphere. Any chance of asking them about what they think about the hyped up rivalries in the modern day (Groves-Degale, Haye-Harrison) compared to their's back in the day? Also can anybody answer the question why Big Fights used to be on midweek instead of at the weekend and why they moved to the weekend?
They changed it to the weekends for the gate, which became more important as financial demands started rising and especially as satelite TV came in. It wasn't just over here the likes of Leonard vs. Hearns were on weekdays.
Thanks for the replies. Im only 22 so I only remember fights either being on a friday or saturday night so I was curious as to why this wasnt so in the past.
That points and rankings experiment was interesting, which UK fighters did you include to get the 9points?
Is this available as a podcast through itunes? If so, I'd appreciate if someone could send me a link or what to type into the search engine because all I can find on itunes is the old Setanta boxing hour podcast. Cheers.
