Any news or links from the Johnson camp? Is he looking like he can make 168 ok for this Saturday's fight with Allan Green?

Well on fightcamp they said he was down to 178 and that was with 4 weeks left until the fight. He will make weight as he has a massive penalty clause in the contract for every pound that he is over.... but i doubt he will be as strong as he usually is with this cut weight

Interesting, thanks for the post. But if anyone has more recent info, I'd love to hear it. Fight's in two days.

He was interviewed on b-scene a few days ago and he said he was down to 171 a week previously. I'm not sure if this means he's losing weight safely or if he's going to look like Oscar in the Pac fight.

I hope he manages to beat Green and get another couple of big fights - no-one deserves it more.

Thanks, Henke. I agree with your last statement. If he's down to 171 a week ago, this means he's cutting water weight I'd assume, yes?

He said he was just "following instructions" from his nutritionist and the weight was coming off easily. At his age and considering his weight struggles for the Cloud fight, this seems a little strange. Hopefully he'll come into the fight strong and be able to fight like he normally does because I'd love to see him beat Green.

Shouldn't he be able to fight Green inside like Ward did and have his way with him? I know Ward is top notch but Green showed absolutely nothing in that fight.

Green looks more weight drained than Johnson does apparently.

He had 9 defeats on his record in 2004 before he consecutively beat Woods, Jones Jr and Tarver

Don't just go off the losses

It will be interesting to see how he performs at this weight, as i dont think he has fought there in ten years similarily to ODLH.

Luckily for Johnson he is not moving down in weight to fight an elite fighter ....unlike Oscar

Hes got a great nutritionist and conditioning coach. I think he will be ok. Hes in a class above Green and the only way he loses to him is if he he beat himself on the scales, which I dont see happening.. at least this time against this caliber of opponent. He may not be strong enough to get the KO, but he will still likely win.

Thats what im expecting. I dont think Green has a chance in hell. Unless Johnson is extremely weight drained.
