I was gonna say the same thing. While I do appreaciate the insight your giving, I don't think anybody on the board really knew about the situation and much less attacked you.

Rumor has it that Manny Steward frequents this forum...are you hoping to spark some kind reaction from Kermit or his team ?

No I have no interest in talking to Manny Steward. Marshall and I met him right after Estrada fight and he didnt talk so highly of Kermit either. The guy is two faced and phony.
The reason I come to the forums is because Iwas always a huge boxing fan and always wondered what it was like in a bigtime camp, and all the behind the scenes action. I thought the fans might appreciate the inside info.

ok, i appreciate that honesty, cuz when i went back and saw that we had talked in an earlier thread and you werent being upfront about who you were, i was kind of ticked (not that you should care), mostly cuz you seem like a good guy and then i started to think otherwise. listen, i have followed kerm since pretty early, since not many great things come out of my town or school and cuz im a boxing fan. I personally think he looks sharper now. that is my opinion. I have never had anything against you or marshall, though, i think you guys did a great job with him. i knew you guys continued to work with jason after kerm split, so i knew that you guys werent bad trainers or anything, or why else would his bro train with you.

That being said, would you say kerm has heart? i saw in the teddy reid fight a lot of heart. he took huge bombs and kept coming. i was shocked at the marg fight, to be honest, cuz i knew the heart was there, also from seeing him wrestle in high school, but i knew something else was going on. I know you said the stuff about outside influences, but it seemed to me that the cut over his eye gave him doubts, and he was a little too inlove wiht the right hand that margarito seemed to laugh at... seemed like a tough situation for a young, inexperienced guy who KO'd the entire rest of the world so easily...

Kool. In all honestly I am a boxing fan first and a trainer second. The reason I am here is so you guys can ask questions instead of speculate about what goes on behind the scenes.
I am a little shocked that you think Kermit looks sharper now because the fights with Estrada, Suarez, and Feliciano were terrible performances.
As for heart. I to like you was pretty convinced we had the real deal with Kermit after the Teddy Reid fight. I saw sparring footage of Teddy in Tom Yankellos training camp. In those tapes he knocked out two heavyweights with one shot while wearing 18oz glove and of course headgear.
But, rewatch the fight and listen in between the 4th-5th round. Kermit had a breakdown in between those rounds.
If Kermit has early success he becomes confident and becomes emboldened, and if that happens anyone is gonna be in trouble, but if you resist him early you can break him mentally.
What would have happened last night if Feliciano could punch, or wasa legit ww sizewise. Or what if Feliciano was a top 10 type of guy.
I don't know what happened to Kermit. All I know for sure is he is not the same person I met when he was 19, and he is not the nice kid I got to know over the next 5 years. And he is definitely not the same fighter.

Fame changes people. Continuously being the center of attention also changes them. An awful lot of these talented young boxers start acting like pampered princes. If things come too easily, they soon forget that one day life will be hard. You can't force them to do anything, but there are ways to give yourself the best chance of keeping them in line. Did you ever try guilt? With all this modern pop-psychology, guilt has come under disrepute. The fact is guilt is a very effective way of manipulating people. There is proof of this at the local church. You gotta lay a guilt trip on them because you never know what they might get up to!

This is an excellent thread.....great insight. There's nothing like conversing with fighters and trainers alike. Who better to give you the real scoop or at least give you an educated opinion. I envy condintioners occupation, I would love to change my career and enter the world of boxing.:yep

so it seems we are on opposite sides of the fence on cintron, but that is of little consequence cuz you seem like a real decent guy who cares about his fighters.

I wanted some advice/ opinion on something. I'm 26 and about to attempt to start boxing. not trying to do anything more than MAYBE amatuers... might not even go that far, i will see how well i do. Anyway, i just moved to center city philadelphia and wanted to know if you knew of any good gyms around here. I know fraziers isnt far, but those guys are a little more intense than i am, plus i dont want to take time away from guys that actually have futures in the sport.

Also, heres my situaton... two years ago i was 152 lbs, and it didnt take all that much ridiculous work, or time, to get there. Now, it seems as though my metabolism has taken a nose dive. i started working out pretty intensely 3 months ago, i am in good shape, i can run 10 miles pretty easily, swim for 2 hours straight, do lots' pushups and pullups, but cant seem to get below 175... and i dont have even close to a big enough swing to bang at 175lbs. when i started 3 months ago i was 192, lost the initial 15 pounds in 2 weeks, but nothing since then, really. any tips?
