steve bunce isnt a credible boxing journalist

Spencer Oliver is the best British Boxing pundit imo. Ritchie Woodhall knows Boxing, although his voice goes through me a bit Lol

 

Buncy is biased & emotional i admit.

I think he does great, I've certainly warmed to him, his podcasts are excellent, especially the lengths he goes to get fighters on air, he takes requests from posters on here on who they want to hear being interviewed.

Has great wealth of knowledge in the amateur ranks and his appearance on British Boxing Hero's has to be commended. If Bunce had input on which fights to show on that programme then definite props to him, because it was great watching some old fights that I had never seen as they were from the 70s. Charlie Magri, Bugner-Cooper etc. all excellent episodes to watch.

 

Bunce is great - who else is on my radio with more knowledge on boxing? If his knowledge is not up to internet standards , then his passion is imo.

I like the story behind the story, and boxing is full of them...Bunce does too, suits me !

 

The remarkable thing about this hack is how little he understands about boxing, the sport, given the length of time he's spent watching fights and being around fighters and coaches.

 

He pretty much defends every British Fighter in one way or another.

If you don't like it, then don't listen.

 

I like Bunce as a person and he is great for boxing his personailty is quality. My only problem is his bias for British Fighters and he is sometimes over the top and blows smoke up there arse when they are either on the phone or on one of his shows.

 

Pretty much does ass kiss every British fighter and I wouldn´t say he´s tremendously knowledgable compared to a lot of people.

However, he has great enthusiasm and gets out there and brings boxing to us. That he deserves a lot of credit for.

 

I think he's very good 99% of the time.

Sucks up to Haye way too much, when he ought to be giving him a hard time over certain things..... the same things that he's criticised others for doing.

 

I dont agree withs some of his stuff but i like the guy and respect his passion fo boxing. I also think he has done alot of positive things for boxing.

I think that when Bunce analyses fights he can be first rate but too often goes into his oi oi schtick when on camera. This can be funny i.e the Kellerman rant, but I like it better when he's more serious. This analysis of the Hamed Barrera fight for example was spot on (skip to 6:00). It would be better if he didn't dumb things down for the casual fan as much but he is good at what he does.

Imho, he has his faults, for example I think he can lack objectivity regarding some boxers, but on the whole I think he's good for the sport and nearly always entertaining.
