I don't really know where you are attempting to go with this considering it will be impossible to really say until Khan is retired but that aside, you are again pulling statements out of nowhere, did I say they had no choice?, did I say he was being carefully matched?

No. I said that I believe he could have a successful career with careful matchmaking.

Well boxing isn't maths. Do I think it's possible he could beat Maidana and Bradley, yes. Do I think it will happen? No, I think Bradley would beat him comfortably right now.

 Mate, I've read plenty of your posts in the past talking about how Khan only took this Maidana fight because he was forced to. And just again you've said:

Maybe I'm taking the above out of context a little, so I'll let you off on that one. But I'm not just pulling statements out of nowhere. I'm only going by what your saying, and the vibes I and others have got from your past posts.

Ok let me cut the crap. What will you say IF the not-so special Amir Khan with a hopeless chin, gets by the biggest 140 banger and then beats the universally recognized number none guy of the division - Bradley. Will you admit...."****, I understimated Khan's ability. He's better than I thought he was." .... or will you say...."Maidana, Bradley, and the this division as a whole was always overrated. Them guys were made for Khan".

... is there posts I'm not seeing or something. Where exactly did I say Khan was an average not-so-special fighter?

I can only assume you half read "I don't believe he's world class beyond his hand speed", and interpreted it to mean whatever you felt like. Plenty of fighters operate at a high level whilst lacking in other skills but being exceptional in one. Maidana himself as an example, a guy with poor boxing skills yet the punch to be able to win himself fights.

Like I said, Do I think it's possible Khan could beat Maidana and Bradley, yes it's possible. Would it suddenly diminish Bradleys standing in my opinion?, not at all.

I don't know if you are a football fan but in the UK there is a footballer called Peter Crouch, I personally believe he's not particularly talented, however he often manages to score goals when the are needed using what skills he has. And when he does this at the end of the day it doesn't matter whether he's talented or not as he scored and that's all that mattered, however I don't suddenly say "I was wrong about him, I think he is fantastic gifted player", because I'd be lying.

In a similar sense, If Khan did defeat Bradley, I don't think my opinion of Khan's abilities would particular change just because he won, as I believe it's possible for him to win with the skills he already has. However, If he went into the ring, and performed in a manner which made me think "this is much better boxing", whether he won or lost my opinion of his abilities would increase... If that makes sense.

Of course HBO are right to make this call and boxing fans should be grateful. Now Khan will be tested by a true contender.

Oh man, you are hard work. In this very thread we're talking in, you said:

What else am I to take from this, other than you believe Khan to be less than world-class? I can't be bothered to go through your history to pull up similar posts, but you denigrating Khan's ability is a common feature whenever you write about him. You can deny it all you want and try and manoeuvre your way out in the event you're proved wrong, but it's more than obvious that you're inhibited with an anti-Khan approach.

Comparing Maidana is pointless. He's the best he's ever going to be, and in all probabilty will never go on to unify and become the number one man of this division. Whereas Khan has an excellent chance of doing this, and more. A less than world class fighter with a crap chin, won't be able to do what he's wanting to do.

But what if Crouchey stepped up a level, joined an elite European club and continued bagging goals against the best defenders in the world....surely that'll be a testimony of his improved ability. You wouldn't still regard that striker as the same not-very-talented player that scores goals when he has to. No. He's obviously proven himself to be better than that.

The same would apply to Khan. Him stepping up the level of competition and beating opponents you don't think he will beat, is concrete evidence of him exceeding your expectations. Your predictions in these potential fights are based on your current estimations of his ability. So if he proves you wrong by winning the fights you think he isn't skilled enough to win, then he's clearly exhibited skills you undervalued.

You know this, and I'm getting the feel that you're just trying to save face now.....

It makes sense, but I won't be holding my breath for it. Khan could go on and beat Mayweather and Pacquiao one after the other in one night, and I'd still be here having the same conversation with you.

"I don't believe he is world class beyond his hand speed".

How about I make it simpler for you "The only thing which makes Khan world class in my opinion is his hand speed". So yes, I do believe he is world class.

Again, as is standard with many of the Khan fans, you seem to think that criticism of someone is hatred. I am not going to state things about a fighter which I don't believe to be true.

The comparison isn't pointless at all. It proves my point in that someone with limited skills in some areas and an excellent skill in one can go on and achieve things. As for him probably never unifying the division.. KO'in Khan followed by KO'in the winner of Devon/Bradley, while I don't think it'll happen isn't as unlikely as you seem to place it.

In that scenario, in all likelyhood, in order for him to do it he would have to improve his ability. However, if he played in a similar way to which he does now and achieved the above, my opinion would not change.

I simple refuse to rate any sportsmen by anything other than their performance. Although I may think well of them for winning. In football you can have a crap game and still win. The same so in boxing.

An example of this would be Froch Taylor, I don't believe Froch is a particularly great boxer, his win didn't change my opinion of this. However I was very pleased for him winning.

When there is a fight on that I am unable to watch and then later after the event someone says to me "X beat Y fighter earlier". I don't suddenly jump to a judgement and think "Wow, X is great", I watch the bout and make my opinion based on the performances.

Like I said, If Khan went into a fight, and based on my opinion of his abilities I considered he would lose, and then he went on to win, although I may think well of him for winning, this alone would not change my opinion of his abilities. I would change my opinion based upon the performance, such as he did with the Kotelnik fight.

What Difference does it make IF HE DIDN'T OR HE DID WANT THE FIGHT? The 2 are fighting on dec 11th and that's great for boxing. I just don't see the point of your thread unless your hating on the boy.

Lol so you go from ‘Other than his speed, Khan is not world-class’ to ‘Khan is world-class because of his speed’. Glad to see you’ve changed your mind.

Don’t pull that card on me. When 90% of your Khan-related posts are scorning him, we can safely label you as a firm detractor. Just like 90% of my Calzaghe-related posts are disparaging him, I’m quite happy to be tagged as anti-Calzaghe too. It seems the difference between you and I, is that I don’t try to deny it when I'm pulled up on it.

Devon and Timmy would carve him up.

So other factors such as the quality and style of opposition wouldn’t make a difference? That’s a very narrow-minded way of looking at things.

Ok, then. You in the past have been adamant that Khan will lose when he faces a big puncher. Needless to say, this opinion has been formed on the basis of his appalling chin, as well as him lacking the qualities to protect that chin, right?

Now if Khan manages to impressively beat Maidana and avoid being knocked out like you think he will, then chances are that he’s just exhibited something in that performance which you underestimated...be it the chin (unlikely), better defence, better offense, more intelligence etc. Whatever it is that’s helped him win, that particular ability(s) has just proven you wrong.

I’m saying this now in the event of a Khan win (which I personally don’t think will happen by the way), because I know you’ll just apply your ‘I’ll base my opinion of what I like and don’t like, in what I see’ rule. Like I said in the previous post, if Khan does exceed your expectations of him, you’re not going to admit it or give him credit for it.

When precisely in the past have I been adamant that Khan will lose once he faces a big puncher? I don't know if you have noticed but I have stated on numerous occasions that I think the likely out come is that Khan defeats Maidana.

You should reconsider the way you think. You seem 100% convinced I have some emotional motivation behind my Khan posts when in fact there is none. Although you do make a point in that most of my posts in relation to him could be viewed as non-postive, this is usually because I am correcting and responding to something by the "We are Amir Khan fans so everything about him is amazing and flawless" brigade.

Also, just to clarify, the purpose of my posting this new story was not a dig at Khan. I have stated previously that I do not, nor have ever thought he was 'ducking' Maidana. It was more for those interested in the HBO-GBP relationship.

Stating Khan is world class because of his hand speed is pretty accurate. He wouldn´t be without it.

Well, perhaps you have not followed Khan for that long... You do realise the last time he fought a big puncher that's how it ended. That was what the post was referring to.

Anyway, it was supposed to read punches, not punchers
