i think a lot of these well publicised boxers, who beleive they should win titles with ease especialy if the e3ngland squad told them they can flick anybody in the world to death, get a shock, when a seasoned man with hurtfull intentions upset there plans and image, or ilusions, can these yank trainers give them talent, ? make them faster? NO i can make a donkey run faster, but it ain't winning the derby. khan did improve, but it is just in tactics he was already talented enough to carry them out. sparring is better they say, well if the sparring is to good and your on a hiding in the gym, what good is it, we have world champs here who will spar, cheaper and you can live at home with your family.:think:good
The difference between UK and US is the sparring over there is much much better. No bull**** about keeping two top prospects away from each other while they contend for the same title. Not to mention the fact they have more quality trainers. Khan only improved tactics wise? Which is why his defense is 10000x better than what it was over here.
he used to charge out like an over agressive big puncher, and he got nailed, his defense is still based on leg movement, don,t see him slipping punches, his basic tactics are be elusive with dangerous oposition, be more ambitios with non punchers, thats why his opponents alternate from one to another, or every fight he had would follow same pattern.:hi:
Wasnt there a thread a few months ago concerning which coaching was better, British or American and you agreed Brit fighters going abroad was a good choice as they had more variety of styles over the pond ?
Tony Jeffries comes to mind, but bcoz he's moved before he steps up a level, how wil we know if its bin a good move? he will obviously say it was a good move after he beats a journeman next time out
it works because it takes people out of their comfort zone, somewhere where they are essentially a nobody and matures someone as a person and as people have said the sparring seems to be fighting sparring and not technical sparring, if that makes sense
Being a world champion doesn't have to mean you are super human in the talent department. There are numerous examples in all sports of guys that have reached the pinnacle of their sport by hard work, dedication and good quality training so it really can make a difference going over there for guys with less than perfect talent and will give them their best chance to reach their full potential. As said above more specifically the sparring out there is day and night compared with here. I see it as a positive. Going to the Kronk is the best move Fury could have possibly made at this stage
if your having problems beating uk or irish trained boxers, would it not be a good idea to try their trainer, as if he,s good enouogh to train his boxer, who your supposed to beat comfatably, to were he gives you hell and high water, surely he must be doing something right.:good:good
I see your point but why trawl the country incrementally changing trainers when you can just go route one and be with the best in the world (for your particular attributes)
i can see your point also, but theres many football players playing in a local league, who never progress, talent pickers know that they would never get a touch of the ball in elite team play, they stay put, but a disalusional boxer can be taken advantage of, if he's a big ticket sellar, etc, the bussiness part of the game will lead him along, for money sake, the trainer gets a % as well, and his name is connected with a well nown fighter. his opponents are selected, while some more expendable boxer is matched harder to provide the crowd there moneys worth, . But when it comes down to it, a world champion jockey, can ride your mule, and he may break his own personal record for a mile, but do you think he can compete with the thoroughbreds, NO.:good
