Do you take this as Calzaghe admitting he couldn't beat prime RJJ?

    From the BBC website:

"My mum, who was always too afraid to watch me fight, would be annoyed if I went back in the ring but I'm more concerned about my youngest son Connor.
"He came into my dressing room before the Roy Jones fight crying his heart out because he saw me get knocked down against Bernard Hopkins a couple of months earlier.
"He had also spent the Jones build-up watching footage of Jones' glory years, when he was at his peak, on You Tube.
"Connor was sobbing 'dad, he is amazing' and I tried to reassure him 'don't worry son, Jones isn't that good anymore.'

I have always thought a prime Jones would embarrass and crush Calzaghe... do you take this statement to mean Joe himself agrees, or would that be the wrong interpretation of this quote??? :huh

I think it's more about Joe trying to console his son. But you never know... at least he knows he beat a **** version of Roy.

Of course he knows Jones is beyond shot, people have eyes and he admitted it his self.

Here are interviews where he admits it, these are interviews his 6 loyal fans all over the world don't want you to watch.

I'm sure he knows that Jones would have been his toughest fight of his life and one where he would be in with a serious chance of losing.. Would have been intersting though, shame Calzaghe came around 1 or 2 years too late for it to happen when it should have. At 168 Jones wins 7 times out of 10 for me.

No, he's being straight with his kid and trying to assure him that he'll be fine. Everyone knew Jones was shot to bits and that JC would destroy him. Only delusional Jnr fans and JC haters wanted to think otherwise.

In his autobiography he mentions something about the money really needing to be right to face Jones (when they were both younger). Which is a clear acknowledgement of the risks Jones faced. JC wanted to be very well paid to face Jones because he would be the toughest possible test, and therefore the one with the most chance of gaining a defeat. He was, and is, being honest and realistic.

I'm sure he would have fought Jones for the right amount, but that would have been more than the purse split would be worth.

    :lol::patsch No.
Calzaghe beats a PEDs cheat everytime.
No children like to see a parent fighting and worry, that human nature.
You bias fools are really clutching at straws with this one .

Except it Calzaghe BEAT Hopkins & Jones .

Now I know how hard it is for you lot to except your hero legends got beat, but they did, in America and with 5 out of 6 of the judges being American.

Calzaghe beats either every time, now except the solid facts that Calzaghe beat them and get on with your lives :smoke

He told me 13 years or so ago that he thought Roy Jones was something else.
Unless a fight is made, you cannot tell with 100% accuracy how it would turn out. Roy Jones looked really unbeatable in his prime, he fought on too long and got beat. No-one lasts forever, if Calazghe came back now, he may be able to beat Bute etc, but he could get a hiding also. :good
