if he keeps on fighting till he's 36(when it went downhill for Jones)? he's only 30 and If he keeps on fighting good oppositon for another 6 years would it catch up to him? the last episode of 24/7 showed that his body is hurting already. or do you think he can be succesful into late 30s because he doesnt get hit as much?
Jones got hit even less than PBF did. But they are entirely different fighters. Jones didn't adjust when he lost his athleticism. I think PBF would....
but if you flip the switch, that can actually mean a good thing in the sense that p4p, floyd has a much more developed level of punch resistance when compred to roy, whom is either ktfo'd or in complete shock when caught flush.
he might, his ego will probably keep him coming back. I mean damn, Hatton made one little comment about him and now theyre fighting.
i dunno. when you talk about someone who gets nailed as much as gatti, then yea, over the years that **** will wear you down. gomez looked like joe ****in' louis against gatti, and he is by no means a world beater. but in general, durable guys, regardless if they're classified as slick boxers or not, usually get tagged every so often (tagged, not beaten up). this is a theory that is usually mentioned by boxing commentators, so i assumed it was a common belief (iunno). anyway i catch atlas, kellerman, merchant, whoever, usually saying that if a boxer who is not used to taking big shots for whatever reason (be it great defense, or great talent) can find himself in deep trouble the first time he does get nailed flush. you'd probably know more about it than me tho.
But it just shows how superior a peak Jones was to virtually everyone, yet some of the guys just don't get it..
I think Jones had bigger aspirations and cared more about his legacy then Floyd does. It will be easier for Floyd to walk away I'd imagine. Roy should've walked away after the first Tarver fight. Floyd wouldn't have rematched him.
I hope he does end up like jones, ****ed up. I also hope hatton makes him bleed internally, he is a true wanker of the sport.
actually floyd's past suggest different as he rematched the only fighter who some said won and he beat him by a larger margin the second time. Also....be it for money or just ego...he wanted Oscar again as well so nothing suggests Floyd wouldnt rematch.
