Is Floyd waiting for Pacquiao's prime years to go away ?

yes, once he notices a slip or pac takes a brutal beating he will jump in. the flipside is that once pacquiao loses a mayweather win would mean relatively nothing. Also he would get less money. But take in m9ind that floyd is actually 33, it could just happen that he loses is reflexes overnight and then he has to really fight with pacquiao.

 

If pac struggles with margo, I can see floyd signing the contract

Bare in mind Mayweather is 34 years of age and most people suggest he isn't the same fighter he was a few years back.

You could argue that Pacquiao did the same thing; why not take Margarito after De La Hoya when he was in his prime, rather than wait a few years and a few losses later.

I don't care how it works out, just as long as they fight.

floyd is not even 2 years older than pacquiao. but pac turned pro in january of 1995 while floyd turned pro october of 1996 almost two years later. pac is almost 2 years older in professional ring age, has 15 more pro fights, has style that does not suit longetivity as opposed to floyd. floyd also takes vacation in these span and was taken care of the world class coaches and equipments during the early part of his career.

looking at all of this, yes floyd is waiting for pac to slow down before fighting him. we can see another mosley situation here.

I'm not attacking his choice to go after Hatton I'm trying to make a point that it's easier to pick holes in hindsight. Margarito was the number #1 welterweight, if we'd had known he'd end his career at welterweight then Margarito in his prime would have been the better choice.

I mean even though Hatton was the linear champion, alot of people were rating Tim Bradley as the number 1 jr. welterweight.

 

I think pac was planning to go after hatton at 140 after the diaz win, but then oscar ducked margarito and cherrypicked pac, off course fame and money that oscar brings to the tabel. pacquiao took the opportunity and after that went back to fight hatton at 140.

 

Its obviously Roach and Pacquiao who want Mayweather to lose a step.


Consider Roach said 'Mayweather would be Pacquiao's easiest fight"

Then Mayweather destroys Marquez.

Roach then says "Pacquiao needs more time"


Then Floyd signs the first contract, and Pacquiao backs out of the testing.


This was a 1 year ago. Mayweather was 33. Now he's 34.
