Only a few, actually. People who aren't trained to defend against punches are easily staggered - however, people who aren't trained to punch usually don't do so well enough to knock someone down. Once someone gets clocked really well they either freeze up and cave as the attacker comes toward them with a follow-up flurry, or the other person disengages after having felt they've made their point. The first really clean, hard shot ends a lot of fights that way. Then, of course, people do sometimes get KTFO (which doesn't count as "going to the ground", since the person who won usually doesn't follow the person down when it's clear they've knocked them more or less unconscious or at least incapacitated). It's only when they close in too fast for any clean punches to get off that you see them wrestle each other to the ground.
I've seen fights that hit the ground turn really ugly, where a person on the ground gets dragged off, kicked etc. Depends on the situation, a lot of the time if you are dealing with hoods and you start getting over on one, they will gang up on you and it turns into a big group fight. Being on the ground, having your back to someone isn't idea in a fight like this.. But, if its just one on one, and you know that at worst you will be dragged off for the purpose of it being broken up, its great to have ground skills.. Overall, its best to have clinch skills.
Some do some dont. But that is an advantage an MMA fighter would have in a street fight vs a boxer, he could just take him and down and its game over.
IF he can take him down. Big fat if. Shooting on a puncher under the assumption that nothing's going to come your way (like a quick uppercut) while doing it is...not wise to say the least.
any mma fighter would take a boxer down with ease, just like James Toney was taken down without being able to put up any kind of resistance. And he had actually trained for a few months in MMA.
maybe around your house because where i grew up punching and fighting is natural and you do it since you're very little.. always testing yourself against neighbors and friends or your father putting you up against his friends kids.. and my brothers and i never wrestle but we did boxed a lot against each other you're dreaming right there.. that's like saying any boxer can knock out a mma fighter with ease.. it depends on the boxer and on the mma fighter.. toney LOL please that guy has been punch drunk for the last ten yrs :hat
You really never wrestled with your brothers or friends? You can't claim that this is some sort of rare thing, children everywhere do it, since you don't actually want to hurt them. Well taking a guy down isn't the same as knocking a guy out is it, it is more of an equivalent to landing a punch.
