Thats true, the bruno fight was the first time mike showed signes of going downhill.
Buster fight came very soon after.
All though trading with a beast like bruno isnt easy.

 

I think it was 1986 when Tyson fought Tillis. He looked average at best.

 

Tyson hadnt even fought for a title when he faced Tillis. Tillis was one of the first skilled mobile boxers he faced on his way to a title shot.

Tyson wasnt very experienced against good fighters even by the time he fought for title. He was growing into a complete fighter winning titles. That said yes the Bruno fight showed an undisciplined fighter with no gameplan going in swinging wildly against Bruno. Tyson was hurt for the first time in his career by a Bruno hook. It wasnt soon after Tyson was stopped by Douglas.

 

This is getting ridiculous, soon it'll be suggested Tysons absolute prime was 3 weeks in 1986

 

That is on Mike himself(the fighter) if he stopped moving his head, more fool him. It does not show he was on the decline, it just shows that he made a conscious decision not to do what he had been doing previously, you dont suddenly get amnesia and forget what you have been drilled to do for the last how many years.

You cant excuse Mike cause he lost his mental focus, its that what makes a fighter great, his application, dedication to his craft, if Mike lost that, then that is a knock on him as a fighter, that he did not have the mental make up to be truly great, simply because he could not stand on his own maintain his level.

 

The Bruno fight was Mike's first fight post the original Team Tyson w/Rooney.So how did the new "Team Tyson" do....Mike lasted a mere 2 fights before getting knocked out.So here you have a guy that went 35-0 with his original crew and 2-1 with Don King and his goons.It's clear as day what happened.....

No, it just goes to show what a difference the right trainer/team makes. It's the opposite of Lewis and Wladimir going with Steward or Pac or Khan going with Roach, look at them before and after and there's a big difference. It was the reverse with Tyson, Rooney et al got the chop and he started going downhill immediately.
