Well done Sky, you just destroyed Boxing's reputation to the general public.

A lot of the comments I have seen from my friends on Facebook are just glad Audley got beat by Haye and they are griefing Audley for not lasting long, also a lot of my friends were putting beforehand it wouldn't last long anyway.

I reckon if Haye fights a Klitschko next, they will all come back on board and I don't think this fight will have done as much damage to Boxing's reputation as people think.

Most casual, non-boxing fans I know are disappointed that the fight was as bad as it was. Even I'm in fairness a little disappointed at just how bad Audley Harrison was. I mean I never paid for this fight because it's a ridiculous mismatch but I think people that did at least expected a slightly competetive fight for however long is lasted.

 

I know its easy to say but if I was Audley with it being his last chance, I would have gone in swinging like **** try to land that big shot, **** it if I got sparked.

 

The most shameful thing about the whole event was Haye talking about the Klitschkos fighting bums after just taking part in one of the biggest and most suspect mismatches in championship boxing for a long time. Booth put the icing on the shame cake by saying the Klitschkos will have to be more humble at the negotiation table atsch.

Barry McGuigan and Lennox Lewis kissing Haye's ass afterwards, insulting the Kiltschkos level of opposition and acting outraged saying they should split everything 50-50, as if this has not already been offered to that con man Haye, was ****ing cringeworthy.

i sat in a pub in Glasgow, hundreds of people watched the fights there. They loved the build up, particularly Groves-Anderson. And they cheered for Haye, and even more when he flattened Audley.

Realise you speak only for yourself, not for most people. Lots of casual fans enjoyed the build-up and the dramatic finish. The people I watched it with went away happy. End of.

 

thats probably different to casuals who were duped into paying for the ppv to watch at home. even the commentary team were talking about the fight being a mismatch. i recall watt saying to commentary partner something like "if you fell for it thats your own fault" referring to sky's hyping of the fight! :nut

 

People in a pub haven't paid for it. Its the viewer at home that is important. And judging by the BBC phone-in and message boards (neither hardcore boxing fan holdouts) such fans are pissed.

To me the fight is the fight. It was never going to be good. But Sky could have made the effort to put on a good show by organising a decent undercard.

Of course they are right. Haye is a bigger draw than the sisters, because he is exciting to watch. The fact he fought Audley was because he could make a bundle from it, get rid of an embarrasment to boxing at the same time. In addition to the fact the sisters wanted to rip him off when it came down to the negotiations.

If Lennox believes Haye will beat the sisters, then there is a lot of mileage in that.

 

I can see both sides. I would not pay to watch Harrison against a little known name. It's the way boxing has went.
